After suffering from delays, Disney's 'Raya and the Last Dragon' is finally coming on both the big and small screen in March.

Disney won the hearts of millions when it incorporated diversity into its 2016 animated film, 'Moana'.
Now, Disney is intent on keeping its commitment to diversifying its movies through 'Raya and the Last Dragon,' an upcoming animated film set to release this year.
What makes 'Raya and the Last Dragon' especially notable is that it's written by two Asian American screenwriters: Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim. After suffering from delays due to the pandemic, let's find out when we are finally seeing the animated film.
Listed release date as of this writing: 5 March 2021
Raya and the Last Dragon will release on 5 March 2021. Due to the recent global situation, the film will also be simultaneously available on Disney+ with Premier Access.
Disney announced the animated film back in 2019, along with a November 2020 theatrical release. However, the Coronavirus pandemic got in the way, and now the film is pushed four months further.
The animated film follows the story of Raya, a young girl and lone warrior who must enlist the help of the last dragon, Sisu, to save humanity from the sinister monsters known as the Druun.
The story takes place in the world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons once lived together in harmony. When the Druun came and threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save the humans. However, 500 years after the dreadful event, the Druun came back, threatening humanity's existence once more.
To restore peace, Raya goes on a journey to track down the last dragon to finally stop the Druun for good.
Just like famous Disney animated films, 'Raya and the Last Dragon' will also center around a significant message.
If Mulan's theme focuses on loyalty, bravery, and truthfulness, while 'Frozen' centers on courage, 'Raya and the Last Dragon' will concentrate on the importance of trust.
