Rachel Zegler Seemingly Confirms That She Will Play The Lead Role In The Hunger Games Prequel

Rachel Zegler left a cryptic tweet seemingly confirming that she will be playing the role of Lucy Gray Baird in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

There have been rumors circulating the web that West Side Story star Rachel Zegler was cast in the lead role for the Hunger Games prequel. But is it a rumor, or has it already been confirmed by the actress?

In a cryptic tweet posted on Memorial Day by Zegler, she seemingly confirms her role in The Hunger Games prequel.

The tweet reads:

listen up….. can y’all grow restfully? are you becoming an individual resting decisively?

This tweet doesn't make sense to the untrained eye, but the Twitterverse has unraveled a secret message hidden within the sentence. If you look closely you can see that the first letter of each word in the tweet forms the name, Lucy Gray Baird. This name just happens to be the name of one of the main characters of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This could either be a subtle hint by Zegler or Twitter's greatest coincidence.

Tom Blyth has already been confirmed to play the role of young President Snow. The confirmation of Zegler's involvement in the film is imminent.

Tom Blyth was cast as young Snow

The Hunger Games prequel film is set 64 years before the events of the first Hunger Games and will follow a young Snow before he became the titular villain.

Lucy Gray Baird plays a huge role in the story as she will be a female tribute from District 12, just like Katniss Everdeen. She then goes on to form a strong bond with the young Coriolanus Snow.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to hit theaters on Nov. 23, 2023.
