From managing to get A levels at school while juggling her childhood career, to lying about her horse-riding skills to land her role in 'Bridgerton', here's why Phoebe Dynevor's real life is as interesting as her role in Netflix's period series.
Phoebe Dynevor is the truly "incomparable" actress of the season. The 'Bridgerton' star is shining bright like the "diamond" that she is, following the massive success of the period series on Netflix.
The series created by Chris Van Dusen, based on Julia Quinn's novels, is now the most-watched series on Netflix.
But who is Phoebe Dynevor before she played the "flawless" Daphne Bridgerton?
Here are 10 interesting facts you should know about Phoebe Dynevor.
Phoebe might have starred as a fresh debutante of the Regency era season in the 'Bridgerton' series. However, the actress is 25 years old in real life. She was born on 17 April 1995. She went to Cheadle Hulme School in Stockport while working as a child actress.
Long before she became the Duchess of Hastings in Netflix's biggest original series, Phoebe made her first acting appearance in the BBC series 'Waterloo Road' as Siobhan Mailey. Needless to say, she's unrecognizable without her classic micro bangs on and elegant season dresses, but still a true diamond. Just like the Queen said, "Flawless, my dear."
There is no wonder why Phoebe is such a phenomenal actress, it runs in the blood! Her mother, Sally Dynevor, is a popular actress in the United Kingdom, famously known for her long-running role as Sally Webster on 'Coronation Street.' Sally became such a household name in the UK that she received an MBE for services to drama!
Her paternal grandparents also worked in the television industry, while her sister also shows a knack for performing.
We know. The resemblance between the 'Bridgerton' actress and the 'Game of Thrones' star is uncanny. However, despite how much the two actresses look-alike, Phoebe is not related to Sophie.
At least none that we know of as of this writing. The actress appears to be single based on her social media accounts. Although, of course, she could be very well dating someone in private. Do you want to check out for yourself? Here's her Instagram.
One thing that makes Phoebe and her 'Bridgerton' character Daphne alike is the fact that they both have younger siblings to look after.
The actress was born and raised in Manchester, England, alongside her younger brother and sister.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Phoebe shared her observation about how her modern life can relate to the period series.
"My sister's nine years younger than me. She grew up with social media. She's known no different. And I think the pressures of being young and thinking that you have to look a certain way or sort of put on this perfect pretense to the outside world. . . . There's so many modern elements to it, and I think [Bridgerton] just feels so relatable because of that."
Phoebe admits that she truly loves getting attention ever since she was young.
The actress told Express how she tries to steal people's attention at an early age.
"I've always been a show-off. Whenever my grandparents came to visit, even when I was very little, I'd start jumping around — but only when people were watching. There are loads of videos of me leaping about. My sister is similar, doing little dances for everyone — she's got it in her to perform too,"
Now she doesn't just have her family's attention, but the whole world!
Phoebe might be on top of her career right now, but the breakthrough star wasn't always on top of her class back in the days. However, with hard work, she managed to turn things around.
"To be honest, when I was younger, I went to schools that made me aware I wasn't the brightest," she explained to Express back in 2014 when she was just 19 years old. "But I worked very hard at my A levels, and I was very proud of the results."
A huge chunk of what made 'Bridgerton' so popular is Phoebe and Regé-Jean's exemplary portrayal of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings. Their chemistry is irresistible. They looked so comfortable with each other in intimate scenes and danced so freely on the balls. According to Regé-Jean, they would often meet up and bond through dance rehearsals!
"Phoebe and I would call each other up at the weekend, after spending a week rehearsing, going, 'Hey, I've got Sunday free. Do you want to practice the dance some more?'" Page told GMA. "We'd go around and trip over each other's feet for a couple of hours. But that's a wonderful way to get to know someone — and to get to trust someone because they have to literally catch you when you fall."
Ever lied during a job interview? Well, don't worry because Phoebe did too and she turned out great!
Phoebe Dynevor revealed to Glamour how she lied her way to landing the role in Netflix's Regency drama 'Bridgerton.'
"I've always said — I don't know why — that I didn't like horses and was scared of them,"
"In the audition, when they asked me, 'Have you ridden a horse before?' I was like, 'Yeah, I'm amazing. I've ridden so many horses. I'd be perfect for this role,'"
Luckily, the actress managed to overcome her fear as she began horseback riding lessons with her costar Regé-Jean Page.
"I actually loved horseback riding by the end of it and would love to get back on a horse as soon as possible, so that was fun," she said.
