The petition against Michael Jackson's daughter Paris and Bella Thorne's controversial movie 'Habit' continues to gather signatures.
A petition calling to denounce a film starring Michael Jackson's daughter Paris as a "Lesbian Jesus" draws more than 300,000 signatures.
The petition created by a certain Vivian N. calls for major distribution companies such as Warner Bros. and Lionsgate to prevent the distribution of the film 'Habit,' a movie they described to be "Christianophobic garbage."
The petition reads:
“A new blasphemous Hollywood film is predicted to come out soon depicting Jesus as a lesbian woman. The film ‘Habit’ stars Paris Jackson who plays the role of ‘lesbian Jesus.’ Distributors haven’t picked it up as of yet, so let’s please spread awareness and wake people up to the Christianophobic garbage that is spread nowadays, but is somehow accepted and praised by society.”
Starring alongside Paris Jackson in the film is 22-year-old Bella Thorne, who previously identified herself as pansexual. Paris Jackson identifies as a bisexual in real life too, which makes the casting even more interesting.
'Habit' follows a story of a party girl (Bella Thorne) who gets mixed up in a violent drug deal, forcing her to pretend to be a nun to find her way out.
Aside from living an adrenaline-induced life, she also has a weird Jesus fetish, which we assume will be satisfied after she meets the female Jesus, Paris.
While the plot may sound incredible to others, it surely ruffled a few feathers from the Christian and other religious communities.
As of this writing, the petition has already garnered over 301,000 signatures and is continuously growing.
It's worth noting that the film's logline does not indicate that Jackson's depiction of Jesus is a lesbian.
The petition has already issued a clarification that "the plotline doesn't mention that Jesus is lesbian, but rather that the character is being portrayed by a lesbian woman (Paris Jackson)."
However, they stand firm in their belief that the film "is still wrong and an attack on his character to portray Jesus as a woman and fetishize Him in a film."
'Habit' has no release date yet, but Variety reports that it's already in post-production after they finished filming before Coronavirus wreaked havoc in March.
Bella Thorne seemed unfazed with the negative attention and even shared an article about the petition on her Instagram, adding 'because Jesus is a woman... Wowowow'.
Not much is known regarding 'Habit' yet, but with all the attention it's getting as early as now, we could expect to hear more about it in the upcoming months.
After all, publicity, whether good or bad, is still publicity.
'Habit' will be directed by Janell Shirtcliff based on the story by Libby Mintz and Shirtcliff.
Also starring in the film are Hana Mae Lee, Gavin Rossdale, Caroline D'Amore, Josie Ho, Andreja Pejic, Larissa Andrade, Libby Mintz, Jamie Hince, Ada Mogilevsky, Damon Lawner, and Michael Suppes.
