Even though both the Ant-Man movies were widely successful, Paul Rudd and Michael Peña are asking fans to campaign for Ant-Man 3 to happen.
Paul Rudd and Michael Peña have become a team once again onscreen, though not for a third installment of the Ant-Man franchise. Rather than that, they are teaming up to play the role of desperate astronauts in a Pepsi MAX commercial. The commercial in itself is looking very attractive because of Peña and Rudd, but it also leaves some fans longing for another Marvel movie starring the two actors to complete the trilogy. As a matter of fact, that person is none other than Rudd himself.
Rudd, in an interview with We Got This Covered said, "You need to make a call to the top brass and start a campaign to make it happen." He also said that currently, he has no idea whether or not another standalone film for Scott Lang is being considered.
posting this again cause it’s one of my favorite edits I’ve ever made... there’s so much more to see of their dynamic, their relationship! SCOTTHOPE IS THE BEST SHIP AND IM GONNA FIGHT FOR AN #ANTMAN3 pic.twitter.com/iIZcyY2pQN— bea #antman3 (@beasanatomyy) June 29, 2019
Even though he is not as popular as other superheroes in the MCU, both the Ant-Man movies have already grossed over a billion dollars at the box office. Even though both projects were extremely expensive to make, in the end, they justified the spending a fortune as they were blockbuster hits.
His plea might be heard during the annual D3 summit in late August, as Disney is expected to reveal a slate of upcoming Marvel projects at the expo on the 23rd. But, if a third installment is not announced by then, it could be possible that it won't be happening.
But, a strong campaign from the fans might end up convincing the executives that another chapter in the story would be worth it from a financial standpoint. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving to its fourth phase right now and it is not yet known where Antman stands in this.
He is one of the remaining Avengers and it yet remains to be seen if the franchise decides to move him among the familiar faces in favor of younger talent or keep the old guard in place to help mentor the new school of heroes. Having said all of this, it is also not yet known if the fans want another Antman movie in the first place.
But, I think it is safe to assume that they do, considering box office numbers, but it’s uncertain whether they’re dying to see a third movie of the installment. It looks like the announcement will be made sometime in the recent future, but for now, we should just enjoy the Pepsi Max commercial and hope it’s not the last time Peña and Rudd ever team up.
