Steven Conrad's 'Patriot' is an American comedy-drama web series that has managed to garner the interest of several folks. The web series is written by Steven, who is famous for spectacular works like 'The Pursuit of Happyness' and 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.' The show got premiered for the first time on Amazon Video on November 5, 2015, and the black comedy peppered with spy and political drama is definitely worth a watch. The show revolves around the complicated life of John Tavner, who is an intelligence officer.
His latest assignment entails preventing Iran from going nuclear. Of course, it is not an easy assignment, and it requires him to waive all his safety nets and assume a non-office cover which is dangerous. There is something very engrossing about spy movies that always become popular, for example, 'Bourne' series or the very famous 'James Bond' franchise. 'Patriot' also comes under the same category and, thus, has managed to have a steady fan following over time. It is one thing to get praised by fans and another thing to get mass critical acclaim. And, well, 'Patriot' was praised by the critics as well, as they said that it is "dark, quirky, and often funny — and although its risks don’t always pay off, the series is still savvy and inspired enough to watch.”

Back in 2015, the first season of 'Patriot' debuted and was met with resounding applause from audiences all over. Following the success of the first installment, the second season was released on November 9, 2018, and received just as much love and appreciation from fans. With such a massive following and enthusiastic support, the expectation for a third season was high. However, the fans were met with a disappointing revelation when Amazon Studios' co-head of TV, Albert Cheng, announced that the show had been canceled. This news came as a blow to fans who had been eagerly awaiting the release of the third season. During the streaming network's executive session, Cheng confirmed that there were no plans for a new season, stating, "At this time, we don't have a plan for a new season. We are not planning a new season." This definitive statement served as confirmation that there would be no further seasons of 'Patriot'.
Even though the exact reason is not mentioned or talked about yet, however, according to Deadline, Dorman, who plays the role of Tavner, has joined another cast of an upcoming science fiction series from Apple. The outlet also mentioned that "Amazon will most likely not make a formal renewal decision on Patriot until Season 2 is released, and should they opt to do another season, they will have to work around Dorman’s schedule on the Apple series."
As mentioned earlier, the story revolves around U.S. intelligence John Tavner who barely survives his Midwestern corporate cover in Season 1. He found himself without his bag of 11 million euros and not even a little close to the mission of influencing Iran's presidential election. The second installment is about John's father ordering more extreme measures after the assassination of the pro-nuclear candidate in a heavily guarded Paris compound. The plot was indeed interesting, and the way the story was constructed, it was hard not to like this amazing show. The mind-blowing series consisted of 18 episodes to show one of the most interesting plots of all time.
