Patrick Stewart's Marvel Return Confirmed In "Doctor Strange 2" Trailer

This is exciting news for fans who have watched Stewart play Professor X most notably in the "X-Men" trilogy.

We love that characters from the past are returning in the upcoming Marvel films! It's been several years since we saw (or heard) Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier. But fans have spotted a familiar voice in the new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. By 1:15 in the trailer Doctor Strange can be seen looking up at a figure who says, "We should tell him the truth." While the moment was brief it seems to be the voice of the iconic X-Men leader.

The film —written by Loki head writer Michael Waldron—is set to take fans on a trip across the multiverse with a lot of havoc over time, space and reality. But this means there's a chance for a whole cameo from others actors in the franchise. As for Professor X, we saw the character die brutally in 2017’s Logan. Actor Stewart entertained a return as Xaiver in 2020 if Logan didn't put a definitive end to the character's story, as per Comic Book. Maybe the voice in the trailer of Doctor Stange 2 is a version of Xavier from a universe where that timeline was never undone?

Back then the actor was in talks with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and did not see the character returning. "I met with Kevin Feige a couple of months ago and we had long, long conversations," he explained at the time to Digital Spy. "And there have been moves and suggestions, which include Charles Xavier. Here's the problem... If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier," Stewart said. "But Logan changed all that."

"Here's a tiny anecdote. The first time that Hugh [Jackman] and I saw the film in public was at the Berlin Film Festival, which is where the movie premiered. Shortly after Xavier's death scene, I found myself getting very emotional but I had to keep a hold of myself because we were sitting in the middle of this cinema. And then I saw Hugh's hand come up to his eye and wipe away a tear. I thought, 'Dammit, the bugger's crying. Oh, let it out, Patrick.'" Stewart admittted that eventually, he sat there "sniveling."

Guess we'll just have to wait and see! Watch the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer below!
