The Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee story is coming to Hulu soon. Titled Pam & Tommy, the miniseries will show the couple's relationship, their marriage, and the infamous sex tape leak scandal that shook the world. The series depicting the relationship of the Baywatch star and Mötley Crüe drummer is much-anticipated. But Anderson is not pleased with the show which seems to have gone on without a green signal or consultation from the people involved in and directly impacted by the incident. Neither Anderson nor Lee has offered a comment about the show.

A source close to the actress told Entertainment Today, "The upcoming Pam & Tommy Hulu series has been very painful for Pamela Anderson and for anyone that loves her. It is shocking that this series is allowed to happen without her approval." Lily James (Downton Abbey, Baby Driver) will be playing Anderson and Sebastian Stan (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, I'm Not Here) will be playing Lee. “It’s an important story, I think, from being able to understand what the impact of that media tornado really was,” Stan said of the story behind the series to Variety. "For them as a couple but particularly for her as a woman. I can’t imagine what having a private home video stolen from you—how that wouldn’t impact a newlywed couple."

"Pamela has no regrets about her life," the source stated, "but the only thing she would probably erase is this burglary. She feels so violated to this day. It brings back a very painful time for her." The incident took place in 1995. Anderson and Lee had a whirlwind romance, and having known each other for barely four days, decided to get married in Cancun, Mexico. A sex tape the pair had made on their wedding was stolen in a house break-in the same year and became a hot topic of discussion back in the day. The couple tried to contain the spread of the tape which was being distributed on VHS tapes by issuing lawsuits against distributors. But this backfired and brought more attention to the stolen tape instead.

It was a time of great turmoil for the star. In a now-deleted post, Courtney Love, a friend of Anderson even criticized the production for causing “complex trauma” all over again. She even called out James and said, "And shame on Lily James whoever the f*** she is." US Magazine reported that Anderson will not be watching the show. "She had no involvement whatsoever" in the making of the show, the insider revealed. As for James, she said, "I was really hopeful that she would be involved. I wish it had been different." She added, "My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically."

James also expressed her hope that she would be able to "do her the justice she deserves." The show's writer, Robert D. Siegel stated: "The show loves Pam. So I hope Pam loves the show. She’s certainly the hero of the show. At every step of the way, we’ve tried to do right by her. From the writing to working very closely with Lily, who kind of grew into our custodian of the character."

The eight-episode series is set to premiere on Hulu, Disney+ (Star), and Star+ on February 2, 2022.
