Irish actor Brendan Gleeson has taken on the troublesome role of Donald Trump for an upcoming new miniseries.
Donald Trump's presidency was riddled with scandals that not even Olivia Pope could fix. Most of us may not be huge fans of Trump right now, but I think we can all agree that his term will make a very entertaining (maybe even depressing) TV show.
Showtime has listened to us and has started work on a show called 'The Comey Rule.' It is based on former FBI Director James Comey's memoir 'A Higher Loyalty.' It will go into an in-depth and entertaining look at the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US election. It will also be exploring Trump's first few months as President. Each episode will be two-hours-long, making every episode feel like a movie. The first episode will examine Trump's election win as well as the case of Hillary Clinton's emails.
Who will be playing Donald Trump, you might ask? We already mentioned the name in the title, but for those who don't know who Brendan Gleeson is, I bet you do. Remember Mad-Eye Moody in the Harry Potter films? Yes, that's Brendan Gleeson, and he will lead the role of Donald Trump.
Jeff Daniels will play the role of James Comey.
Showtime has released first look images showing both actors in character. Check them out below:
Showtime described the series saying:
The Comey Rule is not a biopic of one man, but is instead the story of two powerful figures, Comey and Trump, whose strikingly different personalities, ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course.
As you can see in the image, Gleeson has managed to pull off Trump's hairstyle, fringe, and pursed lips perfectly. Would he act the part just as perfectly? We'll just have to wait and see.
Other members of the cast include Holly Hunter as the since-fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, Michael Kelly as former FBI Director Andrew McCabe, Scoot McNairy as former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Jennifer Ehle as Comey's wife Patrice, and Jonathan Banks as former National Intelligence Director James Clapper.
Also, starring are Kingsley Ben-Adir as former president Barack Obama, Peter Coyote as Mueller, Oona Chaplin as former FBI lawyer Lisa Page, Steven Pasquale as former FBI agent Peter Strzok, and Amy Seimetz as FBI lawyer Trisha Anderson
