Johnny Depp added that he did "assault a couple of cabinets, yes" but maintained that he did not hurt Heard.

The video shows Depp smashing kitchen cabinets and then finally breaking a wine glass. It was recorded secretly by Heard. In the video, she asks her then-husband, "Did something happen to you this morning? Nothing happened this morning, you know that?" More smashing can be heard off-screen and Depp responds with, "You wanna see crazy? I'll give you crazy. Here's your crazy. All your crazy."

After Depp realizes that she has been recording the angry outburst he says, "You got this going? You sic that s**t on me, motherf**ker?" Heard seems to laugh.

Heard's lawyers used this incident as well as the fact that Depp is being sued by a film crew who has alleged assault in 2018 to support claims of his domestic violence. They brought out even more texts he sent to support this claim further. "I, of course, pounded and displayed ugly colors to Amber on a recent journey," Depp texted his actor friend, Paul Bettany, in July 2013. This was among other violent texts the two have exchanged where they have discussed burning and drowning Heard in a Monty Python-related exchange of words. Depp had texted: “Let’s drown her before we burn her!!! I will f*** her burnt corpse afterward to make sure she’s dead.”

When Heard's lawyer, Ben Rottenborn asked Depp if he poured himself a "megapint of wine," Depp responded with a note of disbelief, "A megapint?" I poured myself a large glass of wine. I thought it necessary." Depp had used the term in his London libel case proceedings against The Sun. He then went on to say, "I don't know about anyone else, but I have had experiences in my life where one does stray from complete control over their emotions at times, and that is a very normal primal thing to do." He added that he did "assault a couple of cabinets, yes" but maintained that he did not hurt Heard.

"I did not try to intimidate Ms. Heard," Depp said. "If she was intimidated, why was she filming? If she was scared to death, why didn't she leave?" When TMZ had first obtained the video, it was reported that the video was "heavily edited" and there were portions where Amber is seen smiling and egging him on that were left out. The sources had claimed at the time that the video was a complete setup by Heard.

Other than the video clip, six hours' worth of audio recordings was also presented in court. There is also a part of the video she admits to hitting Depp. She can be heard saying, "I'm sorry that I didn't, uh, uh, hit you across the face in a proper slap, but I was hitting you, it was not punching you. Babe, you're not punched." She adds, "I don't know what the motion of my actual hand was, but you're fine, I did not hurt you, I did not punch you, I was hitting you." Heard even tells Depp to "grow the f**k up."
