Nicolas Cage stars as a truffle hunter searching for his pig friend in this upcoming drama film.
"Who has my pig?"
Only Nicolas Cage can ask such a question and look incredibly solemn and dramatic. The multi-awarded actor stars as a truffle hunter on a quest to rescue his missing pig friend in this upcoming film, 'Pig.' He is like John Wick, but with a pig.
The premise might sound unconventional, but judging by the official trailer, it is gearing to be the biggest tearjerker of the summer.
The film is based on a story by Michael Sarnoski and Vanessa Block, who also served as director and producer for the film, respectively.
“What began as a very personal project has transformed into a labor of love for so many talented people,” Sarnoski said in a statement via Variety. “I’m thrilled for us all to be bringing this strange world to life.”
Here is everything you need to know.
Neon is releasing the film in theaters on July 16, 2021.
Aside from playing the lead role, Cage also produced the film alongside Pulse Films, Valparaiso Pictures, BlockBox Entertainment, and Cage’s Saturn Pictures. “Pig” began filming in September 2019 in Portland, Oregon, but its release was affected by the pandemic.
Rob (Nicolas Cage) is contently living in the Oregonian wilderness as a truffle hunter alongside his foraging pig friend. Together, they explore the deepest parts of the Oregon jungle to look for truffles, one of the world's most expensive and sought-after food delicacies.
However, their content and peaceful life vanished one fateful night after some unknown muggers attacked Rob and took the pig away. Rob was forced to get back to the underbelly of Portland to look for his missing swine friend.
Rob enlists the help of a truffle salesman (Alex Wolff) and thus begins a heart-wrenching journey that will unravel Rob's past along the way.
“Michael’s vision for ‘Pig’ is a true testament of his unique voice as a writer-director, and one that we can’t wait to introduce to audiences across the world,” producer and Pulse Films chief Thomas Benski said in a statement. “Having such an incredible cast attached, led by Nicolas Cage and supported by Alex Wolff, speaks directly to the special nature of the story Michael and Vanessa have devised.”
Nicolas Cage plays Rob, the truffle hunter who goes on a journey to find his pig after she gets kidnapped. He is joined by Alex Wolff, who stars as Amir, the truffle salesman who will help Rob in his search.
The rest of the cast members include:
Adam Arkin as Darius
Nina Belforte as Charlotte
Gretchen Corbett as Mac
Julia Bray as Tweakette
