Keanu Reeves is voicing Batman in the upcoming DC Comics animated feature film DC League of Super-Pets. The 57-year-old is playing a superhero for the first time! The film also includes Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Krypto the Superdog and Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat-Hound. The light-hearted film aims to poke fun at Batman's serious nature. Warner Bros. previously mentioned that Reeves would be lending his voice to the movie, but this is the first time the studio confirmed he'll be voicing Batman. In the trailer, Ace can be seen brooding with Reeves' Batman before the two embrace one another. In DC League of Super-Pets, Johnson's Krypto is best friends with John Krasinski's Superman and even shares powers with him and helps him stop crime in Metropolis. When Superman is kidnapped alongside other members of the Justice League, Krypto gathers a rag-tag shelter pack that includes Ace, Vanessa Bayer's PB the Potbellied Pig, Natasha Lyonne's Merton the Turtle, and Diego Luna's Chip the Squirrel to help rescue the superheroes.

According to IGN, this isn't the first time Reeves has entered the world of DC as he starred as John Constantine in 2005's Constantine, which is based on the DC Comic' Hellblazer comic book. The cast of DC League of Super-Pets also includes Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, and Diego Luna. The movie is directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine based on a script penned by Stern. Johnson and Stern produce alongside Patricia Hicks, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, and Nicholas Stoller all serve as executive producers.

Director and screenwriter Jared Stern, who co-wrote The Lego Batman Movie, previously told EW, "I wanted it to be a real threat that you felt lived up to not just a goofy movie, but a real serious superhero threat – but also one that uniquely can only be solved by a group of pets." Stern added, "I really wanted people to come away from this movie feeling like animation is a technique and not a genre. I wanted them to feel like, 'That was a really great superhero movie and it had everything I love in a superhero movie: It had great action, was really fun.'" The heart of the movie is all about Krypto's relationship with Ace. "It's a buddy story about those two guys," Stern shared. "[Krypto] flies above the streets, Ace is from the streets. He's a shelter pet and so he knows a little bit more about being a regular dog. Their dynamic is figuring that out and butting heads in that way."

DC League of Super-Pets is set to release on May 20th.
