Additionally, they had also released the synopsis, which read, “When the children of the world’s greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful Game Developer unleash a computer virus that gives him control of all technology, they must become spies themselves to save their parents and the world.”
The recently announced cast of the movie include Gina Rodriguez (Awake, Someone Great), Zachary Levi (Shazam!, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Everly Carganilla (Yes Day, The Chair) and newcomer Connor Esterson as secret agents ready to bring the unorthodox project back to life. And most recently Billy Magnussen and DJ Cotrona were also added to the illustrious cast. What a dream come true to collaborate with the great and powerful @rodriguez, a man who has shaped the Austin film scene AND this incredible genre!”
While Netflix hasn’t made any official announcement regarding the same, the film is expected to arrive some time in late 2023 owing to the shooting schedule and possible post-production. Filming for the movie was underway in June 2022, taking place in Austin, Texas.
On August 31st, the director Robert Rodrigues notified that filming had wrapped up, he wrote on his story, “Just wrapped a new SPYkids for @Netflix, working with my son Racer Max! Based on all of this information, the film can be expected to make its way to our Netflix screens in 2023.
