Netflix’s Haunting New War Movie Is Now A Global Hit

Netflix has been absolutely crushing it lately, continuing to cement its place as the dominant streaming platform. The films and television shows that do the best are sometimes not even American made with shows like Money Heist and Squid Game leading the pack.

The next big title to be dominating the platform is coming from Denmark. The Bombardment, also known as The Shadow in My Eye, has been doing quite well on the global charts.



 

According to FlixPatrol the Danish World War II drama now stands at third place on the Netflix Global charts. The film at the top currently is the Ryan Reynold's sci-fi banger The Adam Project with The Weekend Away, sneaking in at second place.

The Bombardment's plot follows the real-life tragedy of the bombing of a Danish school by the British airforce.

A mission to bomb Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen went wrong after the British airforce accidentally hit the wrong target, with a local school caught in the crossfire.

The tragedy left many heartbroken and Netflix's retelling of this gruesome event has left its subscribers hooked to the show and the heavy emotions that it ignites. The film first premiered in Denmark on October 28, 2021, and was directed by Ole Bornedal. It stars Ester Birch, Alex Hogh Andersen, Danica Ćurčić, James Tarpey, Patricia Schumann, Fanny Leander Bornedal, and Mads Riisom.
