Will there be 'Mr. Sunshine' Season 2?
Korean dramas have become incredibly popular and known to be some of the highest-rated series. It is everywhere on Netflix and other venues in recent years. And the most common reasons why Kdrama gained such a wide following of audiences are their catchy soundtracks and high production, not only the romantic but also the historical genre.
'Mr. Sunshine' is one of those historical dramas created by Jinnie Choi and written by Kim Eun-sook. The show has received various positive reviews and is a critically acclaimed TV series.

Season 1 of 'Mr. Sunshine' ended on September 30, 2018. Some of the cast and crew expressed their gratitude after the finale. According to them, the season reached its natural end, and there will not be any further seasons.
"As the drama comes to an end, I remember all the moments throughout spring, summer, fall, and winter of this year. As my first show in a long time, 'Mr. Sunshine' was a never-ending parade of excitement and nervousness." Lee Byung-hun said.
Yoo Yeon Seok said, "I feel a lot of regrets at saying goodbye to a project that I've worked on for a whole year. It won't be easy to say goodbye."
However, considering the high reviews and popularity of the series, there is a high possibility that Netflix can revive this show.
Unfortunately, 'Mr. Sunshine' season 2 release date is uncertain as of this writing. The creators haven't provided any hint yet that can lead us to season 2 even the streaming partner Netflix didn't say a word about it.
However, there is still hope that season 2 might happen in the future since no official confirmation has been made from creators or Netflix for the cancellation of 'Mr. Sunshine' season 2.
The story in season 1 is about Choi Yoo-jin, who moves to Korea after the tragic death of his mother. He was born into the slavery class. He comes back to Joseon as a captain of the US Marine Corps. There, he falls for a noblewoman, Go Ae-Shin. But, they face many challenges as they belong to different classes, and the fact that, Ae-Shin is engaged to a nobleman, Kim Hee Sung. Choi Yoo Jin was also politically involved in Korea. He wants the colonization state in South Korea to improve.
Lee Byung-hun plays the lead role as Eugene Choi/Choi Yoo Jin. He is known for his work in 'A Bittersweet Life,' 'Joint Security Area,' 'The Good, The Bad, the Weird,' 'Inside Men', and 'I Saw the Devil.' You will see him in Hollywood films as well, like 'G.I Joe's series, 'Red 2', 'The Magnificent Seven' and 'Terminator Genisys.'
He also appeared in the first Korean drama to hit the No. 1 spot on Netflix, 'Squid Game' as The Front Man.
