Jared Leto's antihero film is pushed again for a 2022 release.
This article was recently reviewed and is up to date as of March 23, 2021.
After a couple of delays, 'Morbius' is now scheduled to release in theaters next year.
The film has been pushed back for almost two years from its initial release date due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Starring Jared Leto and directed by Daniel Espinosa, the antihero film will explore the origin story of Dr. Morbius, his afflictions, and how he ended becoming a living vampire.
Here is everything you need to know.
Listed release date as of this writing: 21 January 2022
'Morbius' is among the list of films due to come out last year but was delayed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. Initially scheduled to hit the theaters in July 2020, the film's release date was moved to March 19, 2021. In January 2021, the film was pushed once more for an October 8, 2021 release date, and then moved again to January 21, 2022, giving way for 'No Time to Die' taking over the October 2021 release slot.
Hopefully, this will be the last delay in the film's release schedule.
'Morbius' will chronicle the origin story of Spider- Man's nemesis, long before he went down the dark path.
The film follows the Oscar winner Jared Leto as he transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Dr. Michael Morbius. He is a biochemist suffering from a rare blood disease. Growing up frail, Dr. Morbius became desperate to find the cure for his condition.
He subjected himself to different experiments, including one that involves vampire bats that eventually gave him incredible strength, speed, and the ability to use echolocation. However, the newfound power comes with a cost. The once fragile scientist has now become a monster, suffering from an insatiable thirst for human blood and an aversion to light.
Based on the bus spotted during the film's reshoots in Los Angeles in February 2020, it looks like the upcoming movie will take place following the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home. During this time, Tom Holland's Peter Parker was hiding after his true identity got revealed.
A bus advertisement on the set is spotted with the sign that read, “Where is Spider-Man?”
