The game is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021.
Fans of the Monster Hunter series have something to look forward to this year. Monster Hunter Rise is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch ... and soon! 2021 will see the release of Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, according to CBR. While Stories 2 is a spin-off, there's a lot more hype around the next Monster Hunter title. Let's dive right into the details.
Touted to be one of Nintendo Switch's most promising 2021 exclusives, the game will release on March 26th, 2021, along with Three amiibo: Palamute, Palico, and the game's flagship monster, the Magnamalo. The game will be available in three different editions.
The Magnamalo amiibo comes with the Monster Hunter Rise Collector's Edition which is the most premium version of the game, beyond the Deluxe and Standard editions. While the Deluxe edition has a series of digital bonuses, including various armor sets and customization options, The Collector's Edition has this along with the Magnamalo amiibo, a sticker pack, and a Kamura Mark pin. A pre-order bonus can get you Cosmetic Layered Armor for your Palamute and Palico, according to the website.
Not much has been revealed about the game's storyline. What we know is that Monster Hunter Rise is a methodical action game with RPG elements, similar to its predecessors. Monster Hunter focuses on players defeating monsters and getting rewards in return to hunt and defeat bigger monsters. Also, it's not about blindly beating up monsters, you need a strategy, good planning with the proper gear, and deliberate attacks. As a player, you will need to do your best to protect Kamura Village.
According to CBR, "the town is also full of engaging characters who will progress the narrative. Fugen, the village Elder, seems to be most important to the plot based on the trailers. He talks about The Rampage, a mysterious phenomenon in which hordes of monsters assault Kamura. With rumors of another Rampage on the way, it's up to the player's hunter and other Kamura residents to protect the village once again."

A new animal companion is being added to the game who will complement the Palico, the feline companion that longtime gamers of the series have been familiar with. Palamute can be ridden by the player and the canine will also help out in combat. The player can even bring both companions on a solo hunt which can be two Palamutes, two Palicos, or one of each. According to the Amazon description, the game will introduce "magnamalo, a menacing new flagship monster, as well as other new monsters like the shape-shifting aknosom, the amphibious tetranadon, and more."
Also "the new 'wirebug' mechanic allows for wire-based grappling actions that can be used to scale cliffs and other hard-to-reach areas, providing new traversal and aerial attack options."
