The heist is about to end.
'Money Heist' Part 5 is officially happening. Unfortunately, this is also going to be the final installment of Netflix's internationally popular series.
The bittersweet renewal came in late July 2020, almost 4 months since part 4 was released on Netflix.
Part 4 left us with a lot of cliffhangers, which sets up the plot for the upcoming part. The final part will consist of 10 episodes and is expected to put an end to the ongoing heist.
Here's everything we know about 'Money Heist' part 5.
Part 5 will wrap up the plot of the heist series and will determine the ultimate fate of our beloved characters.
Part 4 left each character in a predicament when it ended. Lisbon managed to get inside the bank, thanks to an elaborate diversion tactic. But the professor (who is the mastermind of the operation) is cornered by Inspector Alicia Sierra, putting the whole operation in jeopardy.
The heist members inside the bank will have to continue melting gold at the highest speed while hoping that the professor will find a way to outsmart Sierra and get back to them as soon as possible. We have no doubts regarding the professor's intellect, but his emotions could get in the way of pulling a successful heist. In part 4, Sierra managed to catch him off guard when she used his auditory trick against him. Sierra staged Lisbon's fake execution, which successfully took the professor out of focus, significantly affecting the ongoing heist.
But wait, there could be another possible twist!
We would no longer be surprised if Sierra ends up joining the heist team in part 5.
Oprah Magazine reveals that the actress Najwa Nimri is singing a cover of 'Bella Ciao,' just a few seconds after the credits start to roll. 'Bella Ciao' has a significant function throughout the series. It is the official anthem of the bank robbers. The song is only sung by the members of the heist team, like some sort of induction.
Considering Sierra's tarnished reputation in the force and a baby on the way, joining the heist and getting a cut of their robbed treasure could be a good way to start a new life. Alicia has proven that she is at par with the professor's intelligence. With their two brains combined, nothing can ever stop the heist. But if she continues to go against his plans, then the professor has found a worthy opponent.
There is also something shady with Alicia's character that fans even went as far as theorizing that she is secretly Tatiana, Berlin's wife. The two sure looked similar. However, Tatiana was played by Diana Gómez, not Nimri, so this might not be possible.
We are not closing our doors for possible surprises about her character.
As to how the show will end, series creator Alex Pina teased that it's going to be the "most epic part" of everything they've done.
"Adrenaline is within Money Heist's DNA. Every thirty seconds, things take place and disrupt the characters, a turn of the screw to the action. The adrenaline mixed with feelings arising from absolutely complex, magnetic, unforeseeable characters will continue until the end of the heist to the Bank of Spain.
"However, the gang will now be pushed into irreversible situations, into a wild war: it is the most epic part of all the parts we've shot.
"It is action and feeling, it is black comedy and drama, romance and pathos," Pina told EW.
Part 4 witnessed another devastating death. Nairobi (played by Alba Flores) died in a painfully heartbreaking scene after being shot in the head, which means we won't be seeing her in the last part.
The remaining recurring characters who are confirmed to return for part 5 are; Úrsula Corberó (Tokyo), Álvaro Morte (The Professor), Itziar Ituño (Lisbon), Miguel Herrán (Rio), Jaime Lorente (Denver), Esther Acebo (Stockholm), Enrique Arce (Arturo), Darko Peric (Helsinki), Hovik Keuchkerian (Bogotá), Luka Peros (Marseille), Belén Cuesta (Manila), Fernando Cayo (Coronel Tamayo), Rodrigo de la Serna (Palermo), Najwa Nimri (Inspector Sierra), José Manuel Poga (Gandía), and Pedro Alonso (Berlín).
The upcoming part is directed by Jesús Colmenar, Koldo Serra and Álex Rodrigo.
Netflix is yet to announce a release date for part 5. The previous two parts were released only 9 months apart, but the Coronavirus pandemic greatly affected the film and television industry, so the delays are inevitable.
Recently, Alex Pina appeared in an interview which indicates that the upcoming season wouldn't release at least until AFTER September.
We will update this article once we get the release date.
There is no part 5 trailer yet, but it will probably drop a few months from now. Here is the part 4 trailer in the meantime. You can count on us to update this space once the official trailer is released.
