'Mob Psycho 100' Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

Mob is yet to unveil his full potential. Will 'Mob Psycho 100' return for season 3?

It's unsurprising how anime lovers raved over 'Mob Psycho 100' when it premiered in 2016.

The anime adaptation is based on the manga series written and illustrated by ONE, the same mind behind the massively successful 'One Punch Man

.''Mob Psycho 100' follows Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama, an eighth-grader who possesses an unfathomably enormous psychic prowess. Realizing the potential danger that his power brings, Mob decides to suppress his abilities. He only taps a small part of his power to impress his longtime crush, Tsubomi. However, a series of events will threaten to take Mob out of control, unleashing his repressed emotions and massive power.

The anime currently has 2 seasons in total, and the demand for a third season remains high, even after two years since season 2 concluded.

Let's find out how likely will 'Mob Psycho 100' return for season 3.

Will There Be 'Mob Psycho 100' Season 3?

As of this writing, 'Mob Psycho 100' is yet to secure an official renewal for season 3. Studio Bones, Warner Brothers Japan, or any other company related to the production of the anime have not announced plans for a third season yet.

But what is the probability that the anime will return for more?

There's a high probability that the anime will come back with season 3. Businesswise, a third season of the anime could be a good investment considering its popularity. Both seasons received impressive ratings. The first season scored 8.48/10 on MyAnimeList, while the second season scored 8.83. The anime even made it to Crunchyroll's Top 25 best anime of 2010. There are a lot of anime fans who would love to see the anime's return.

How about the source material, is there enough for season 3? The manga series on which the anime is based stopped serialization in December 2017. There are currently 101 chapters, compiled into sixteen tankĊbon volumes. The last chapter was released as part of Volume 16 in July 2018.

However, the manga's numbering is a bit tricky. At the beginning of Chapter 60, ONE started heavily using sub-chapters of varying page lengths. If we consider this, the chapter count increases from 101- 215 chapters in total.

If we include counting the sub-chapters, the first season adapted 57 chapters, while the second season covered the first half of Chapter 92.2.

That leaves us with 65 chapters unadapted, enough to cover season 3.

What Is The Plot Of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3?

In the last season, we saw Mob engaging in an epic battle against Claw boss Toichiro Suzuki. The aftermath of the battle resulted in the emergence of massive broccoli, considered the Divine Tree in Spice City.

The third season will likely pick up from the events of the second half of Chapter 92.2 at the beginning of Volume 13.

The growth of the massive broccoli has attracted the attention and the worship of different cults, including the Psycho Helmet cult. A yokai hunter named Haruaki Amakusa arrives at Spice City upon hearing about the Divine Tree. Amakusa is tracking down the Hyakki, an organization for spiritual monsters.

However, Amakusa is not powerful enough, so Reigen, Mob, and Serizawa decided to help him destroy the yokai headquarters.

Soon, Mob and Reigen realize that the massive broccoli harbors a dark secret. Its roots are slowly devouring Spice City, and the Psycho Helmet cult uses the powder made from the giant broccoli to brainwash people.

Things escalate quickly from there. Mob will soon find himself battling a horde of Psycho Helmet clones. The giant broccoli comes to life and tries to devour him.

But the ultimate battle will happen inside of Mob after he gets rejected by his crush Tsubomi. Following a tragic event, all hell breaks loose, and Mob unleashes a strong power. He goes on a rampage to find Tsubomi.
