Miley Cyrus Admits She Lied To Ex Liam Hemsworth For Almost 10 Years About Her Virginity

Miley Cyrus was only a teen when she began dating Liam Hemsworth.

Miley Cyrus has admitted that she misled her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth for ten years about when she lost her virginity.

As co-stars in the 2010 film The Last Song, Cyrus, now 31 years old, first got to know Hemsworth when she was just a teenager.

In the film, their characters developed a romantic relationship that carried over into real life and the two actors started dating.

Naturally, as Hemsworth and Cyrus grew closer, their relationship became more physical. However, Cyrus has now acknowledged that she wasn't completely honest with Hemsworth about her virginity at first.

Cyrus made the admission when she sat down to chat with Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she spoke about her love life and explained that she was actually 'attracted to girls way before [she] was ever attracted to guys'.

Cyrus continued: “I was like 11 or 12, my friends were starting to tell me what they were doing with guys and I didn’t really understand it ― so I got most of my girlfriends to hook up with me."

“The first time I ever hooked up with anyone was with a girl — two of them,” Cyrus revealed.

Though her initial relationships went "past first base," she later admitted that she "didn't go all the way with a dude" until she was sixteen.

“But I ended up marrying the guy, so that’s pretty crazy," she continued.

Although Cyrus acknowledged candidly in the interview that Hemsworth was the first man she had ever slept with, she didn't say as much at the time.

Cyrus informed Hemsworth that she had already lost her virginity to someone else out of concern that he would view her as a "loser."

“I couldn’t think of anyone so I just made somebody up that I knew but we’d never actually had sex before,” she said.

She 'hung on' to the lie for over a decade, until one of Hemsworth's friends married the man she said she had lost her virginity to, forcing her to come clean.

"So then [Hemsworth] was like, ‘Now my friend is marrying someone you’ve hooked up with'," Cyrus recalled. "So then ― when I was like 24 ― I had to say that I lied when I was 16.”

The 'Flowers' singer didn't reveal how Hemsworth had taken the news, but a few years on, she is obviously happy to own her truth.

After getting married in 2018, Cyrus and Hemsworth divorced less than a year later, citing a desire to "focus on themselves and careers," according to a spokesman.
