Meat Loaf's daughter Pearl Aday took to Instagram on Saturday morning to pay tribute to her father. Meat Loaf died on Thursday evening surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda, and close friends. The legendary rocker was 74 years old.

Meat Loaf's agent, Michael Green confirmed the news in a statement to PEOPLE. "His amazing career spanned 6 decades that saw him sell over 100 million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Wayne's World. Bat Out of Hell remains one of the top 10 selling albums of all time. We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we move through this time of grief in losing such an inspiring artist and beautiful man. We thank you for understanding of our need for privacy at this time. From his heart to your souls... don't ever stop rocking!"

Meat Loaf, whose real name was Marvin Lee Aday, was born in Dallas, Texas in 1947. He adopted Pearl as a young child when he was married to Pearl's mother, Leslie Edmonds. The musician married Leslie in 1979 and they got divorced in 2001. Later, he married Deborah Gillespie in 2007. Meat Loaf won a Grammy in 1993 for best solo rock vocal performance for one of his most popular hits I'd Do Anything for Love.

His daughter Pearl vowed to have the rock legend's back "forever" following his sudden death. She captioned a photo of the two of them on stage, "I love you always, no matter what. I love you with my whole heart. We got you. Forever." Pearl referenced her father’s Bat Out of Hell lyrics in a second post, writing: And the last thing I see | Is my heart | Still beating | Still beating | Breaking out of my body |And flying away |Like a bat out of hell, concluding with, “We love you, Dad.” Pearl’s younger sister, Amanda Aday told PEOPLE that her father was a “complex man with a lot of passion.” She mentioned that her dad "hated" the phrase "rock star." Aday claimed, "He would want me to say, 'I'm not a rock star. I'm not a legend. I'm a singer, I'm an actor, I'm a lot of things, but I'm not those two words.'" Aday believes that the phrase was perhaps "just cliche" in her dad's mind. Meat Loaf simply didn't see himself as one kind of person. She concluded, "He was a singer, he was an actor, he was a father, a husband, he was a grandpa. It was Papa Meat to my nephew. He was everything."
