Many Marvel fans are voicing their concerns after Danai Gurira, who plays Okoye was alegedlystraight up dissed by Marvel.
Today was a special day for all Marvel fans as the long awaited trailer for Avengers: Endgame finally dropped. Along with the trailer Marvel dropped the official poster for the film but the poster has been getting quite a lot of unwanted attention.
If you look closely at the poster you'd see that Danai Gurira's name was left out of the cast credits at the top despite being pictured in the artwork.
Out of the 13 characters on the poster Gurira's name was the only one left out and as you can imagine, the internet didn't take it very lightly.
Gurira's character Okoye did not die after the snap and is expected to play somewhat of a role in the upcoming Avengers film. Many saw her exclusion from the cast list as a disrespect and in order to vent their disapproval they took to twitter.
The fact that the RACCOON got a credit on the poster and Danai didn’t. Marvel was all about BP’s Oscar wins but now? Smh— thats our homie indian cap (@_ismybones) March 14, 2019
I mean, they've got Bradley Cooper's name in there and he's just the VOICE of Rocket. Danai Gurira is the ONLY person on the poster not to be listed by name. https://t.co/zPUVRQBrDf— Christopher Golden (@ChristophGolden) March 14, 2019
There are people pointing out that Danai Gurira's name IS on the new Avengers poster at the bottom, but that just makes it stand out even more that her name was intentionally excluded from the names at the top. #AvengersEndgame— Ryan (@tvisgreat) March 14, 2019
Cool Poster and I'm definitely going to see this film, but— Randolph (@XandGunn) March 14, 2019
DANAI GURIRA DESERVES TOP BILLING periodt https://t.co/gmZ37cpSQv
Hi @Marvel @Russo_Brothers. Love all the work that you do but EVERY OTHER person's name is listed on the poster except Danai Gurira and she's ON the poster. Even Bradley Cooper who plays an animal...... https://t.co/oQusa3yZe5— Corvus Age (@_BetterWithAge) March 14, 2019
If Okoye was good enough for the poster then Danai should’ve got top billing with the rest. Period! It’s nice to see the Marvel fandom defending her though. She’s trending rn.— Alesia (@leashislost) March 14, 2019
What was the conversation even like?— Eunice Chantilly's tacky barrette. (@RafiDAngelo) March 14, 2019
"Ahh, great poster everyone. Looks fantastic."
"Wait, Danai is in the photo but her name isn't on the billing."
"We ran out of space."
"Make the font smaller? Make two rows?"
"Hmm....we could....nah, just leave it off. No one will notice." https://t.co/cMJNT0ZTUa
