Here's everything we know about Marvel’s 'What If…?' Series.
Release Date: 2021
Marvel's animated series is coming out sometime this year on Disney plus.
The exact date is yet to be announced, but it's expected to premiere in mid-2021.
The series was first reported in March 2019 and was officially announced a month later.
We will update this space once Marvel announces the official release date for the animated series.
'What If…?' is an anthology series based on the classic Marvel comics of the same name.
It is a reimagining of the diverse outcomes of some of the key elements and moments in the MCU if they happened in another way.
For example: “What if Peggy Carter took the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers?"
Don't worry because the show will not alter the canon story in the MCU.
Each story will feature its alternate ending without affecting much of the character's baseline narrative.
We can expect to hear the voice of the late Chadwick Boseman in an episode asking, “What if T’Challa Became Star-Lord?”.
'What If…?' will also delve into some darker scenarios, like when Doctor Strange faces an evil alternate version of himself or when Bucky confronts a zombie, Captain America.
'What If…?' features a cel-shaded animation style and features characters that closely resemble the real-life Marvel stars.
'What If...?' might be an animated series, but fans can rest assured that they will still be in the presence of the original Marvel cast the entire show.
As mentioned, we'll get to hear Chadwick Boseman's voice as the Black Panther. The late actor was able to record several episodes before his passing.
The following cast members are also confirmed to reprise their roles and gave voice to their respective animated characters:
Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Taika Waititi (Korg), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
We also have Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).
To complete the round-up, we have Toby Jones (Arnim Zola), Neal McDonough (Dum Dum Dugan), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Djimon Hounsou (Korath), and Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark).
