Margaret Qualley is an American actress and model who has recently starred in the much-acclaimed Netflix mini-series Maid. The story is about a single mother who flees an abusive relationship and finds a job cleaning houses in an attempt to make ends meet so she can provide for her child and build a better future for themselves. The series is based on the best-selling memoir by Stephanie Land, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive.

The 26-year-old is set to be the next best thing after her performance in the Maid. Here are a few things you may have not known about her. 

1. She is the daughter of Andie MacDowell

Margaret comes from acting royalty. Her mother is none other than Andie MacDowell who is best known for her work in the hit films Groundhog Day and Four Weddings and a Funeral. The mother-daughter duo also appears together in Maid. In an interview with Collider, she explained how she fulfilled her lifelong dream of acting with her mom, "I was up in Canada quarantining and the role of my mom was still open, and it dawned on me that I’ve always wanted to work with my mom. And then, I was like, 'Whoa, this is it. My mom’s gotta do this.'" Both of them have been praised for their stellar performance.

2. She was a ballerina

Margaret started taking ballet lessons at the age of two. She spent most of her childhood and teen years in ballet classes. At 16, she had even landed a coveted spot in the American Ballet Theatre’s summer program in New York. When she was offered a prestigious apprenticeship, she decided to quit dance altogether. She told The Hollywood Reporter that the world of ballet had given her body-image issues, that she wanted to escape. She left the world of ballet behind to pursue modeling and believes that she could not have accomplished everything that she has today if she had not quit ballet.

3. She started her career as a model

After quitting ballet, Margaret had signed with IMG modeling agency and was set to begin her new career. She made her modeling debut at the age of 16 and walked in New York Fashion Week. She has walked for Alberta Ferretti, and also modeled for Valentino and Chanel. She later also signed to Uno Models Barcelona. Margaret has even been published in major fashion magazines including Vogue, Vanity Fair, W, Teen Vogue, and Nylon.



 

4. She was a debutante

Margaret made her debut at the Bal des débutantes in Paris alongside Tallulah Willis, the youngest daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in 2011. They were both just 17 and were among the youngest of the 23 girls making their debut among daughters of a global elite of actors, business leaders, and aristocrats. She and her sister were both debutantes.

5. She is the dancer from Kenzo World

Before she made waves as an actress, Margaret was making waves as the woman in the Kenzo World perfume ad film directed by Spike Jonze. Her eccentric dancing in the three-minute video created quite the buzz. "I found the perfect person," Spike had said of Margaret at the time, following her audition where he had asked her to dance like a tree and vampire. "Margaret gave me something that almost rescripted what I had."



 

6. She made her acting debut in 2013

Margeret made her acting debut with a minor role in the 2013 drama Palo Alto. She then made an impression with her role as Jill Garvey in the supernatural, mystery HBO TV series The Leftovers. The series was also considered to be her big break. Margeret then went on to appear in Netflix's live-action adaptation of the hit Japanese anime Death Note and later starred in a crucial role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

7. She has been nominated for an Emmy

As her acting career picked up, Margaret received much acclaim for her portrayal of the actress and dancer Ann Reinking in the biographical miniseries Fosse/Verdon. It was for this series that she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. She was also nominated in the Critics' Choice Television Awards as Best Supporting Actress in a Movie/Miniseries for this role. As for her role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, she was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture in the Screen Actors Guild Awards.



 

8. She loves books

Margaret has a wide range of interests and turns out she is quite the bookworm at heart. "I love reading, and I love journaling. They both keep me on the saner side, whatever realm of sanity that I live in," she told Interview Magazine. "I have a dream journal, and that kind of sets me on the right path for the day. And books are friends." She loves the classics and prefers reading self-help books. As for her favorite author, she said that her favorite was Donna Tartt.

9. She has two siblings  

She has one sister Rainey Qualley and brother Justin Qualley. Rainey Qualley is also an actress and singer. She made her acting debut in the 2012 film Mighty Fine. But she is best known for her music. Justin is the eldest of three siblings. He keeps his distance from the limelight and is believed to be a real estate agent.

10. She's close friends with model and actress Cara Delevingne 



 

The two model-turned-actors are close friends. As Cara shared a series of cute photos cozying up to Margaret, their closeness over time had even sparked rumors of a romance between the two.
