It's been over a year since the feature film and season 1 of Malibu Rescue dropped on Netflix. Here's what's next for the show.
'Malibu Rescue' first appeared on Netflix as a special feature-length film on May 13, 2019, and was followed by an eight-episode series on June 3, 2019.
With both a feature film and a series released on the streaming giant, 'Malibu Rescue' earned a big following.
Fans have been continuously bombarding the show's social media pages with questions about when season 2 is coming.
Will our favorite lifeguards come back for more? Let's find out.
Netflix has not released an official announcement regarding 'Malibu Rescue's season 2 renewal yet. However, fans have all the reason to believe it's happening.
A casting call for 'Malibu Rescue' Season 2 was posted in September 2019. The casting call was specifically looking for fit and athletic types for the role.
Recently, the show's Instagram page has teased 'Malibu: The Next Wave' with a caption "It's going to be fun this summer ❤️ #maliburescue."
The post may, however, refer to a second-feature film Netflix has reportedly commissioned and not season 2.
Fans couldn't care less whether it's a follow-up series or a feature film sequel. They're just so excited to see more of 'Malibu Rescue' in any way.
We still don't have an official release date yet, and the show's social media pages are keeping their mouths shut so far. We'll have to be more patient on this.
Season 1 ended with the Flounders searching for the bomb that Thornton planted on one of the towers to blame the Valley kids and kick them out of the program. Luckily, they managed to stop him. Dylan won Junior Rescuer of the Year. Thornton got arrested, and Roger became the head of the program.
In season 2, we're expecting to see the Malibu Junior Rescuers continue their noble task of protecting beachgoers against any danger. Things are surely going to change with Roger leading the program now too.
If season 2 will ever get commissioned, we're expecting to see the Flounders return for an all-new adventure.
The major casts include Ricardo Hurtado as Tyler Gossard, Jackie R. Jacobson as Dylan, Abby Donnelly as Lizzie, Alkoya Brunson as Eric, and Breanna Yde as Gina.
With Thornton now gone, we're expecting new nemesis to be introduced for season 2. Albeit, there's also a chance for Ian Ziering to return as Garvin Cross and try his best again to kick the Flounders out of the program.
With no official release date and confirmation for season 2, it's difficult to tell. Trailers often drop a month leading to a show's premiere, and right now, everything remains uncertain. We're surely expecting to hear more about 'Malibu: The Next Wave' since they've started teasing it already.
For now, let's just take a look at season 1's official trailer to reminisce.
