‘Major 2nd’ Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

Just like other series, ‘Major 2nd’ season 2 was greatly affected by the pandemic and was forced to delay a couple of episodes. The anime is based on a sports manga series written and illustrated by Takuya Mitsuda. Despite constant setbacks, ‘Major 2nd‘ concluded its season 2 episodes in 2020, and fans are already asking questions if the Japanese sports anime series is coming back for more. Here’s what we know.

Is ‘Major 2nd’ Season 3 Happening?

We are still waiting for the renewal announcement for ‘Major 2nd’ for season 3. The second season of the anime series concluded more than three years ago on November 7, 2020. Sometimes creators take years before renewing an anime series, so the fans don’t have to worry that much. There are also no cancelation announcements so far, so our hopes remain high for the third season. OLM, the studio behind the series, is probably still evaluating the plans for the anime. We also have more than enough source material for another season, which is another important factor in anime renewals. The manga has published a total of 24 volumes so far, which have more than 200 chapters. That’s enough material for up to 2 seasons more. On top of that, the demand for season 3 continues to increase over time. Generally, the series’s future looks bright, so hopefully, we’ll hear about the renewal soon.

When Will  ‘Major 2nd’ Season 3 Release?

Since the renewal is still pending, there is still no release date for ‘Major 2nd‘. However, if the anime series gets the go signal soon, then we could expect season 3 to arrive by Fall 2024. Season 1 of the anime series aired from April to September 2018 on NHK Educational TV, followed by a second season released from April to November 2020. The second season’s episodes experienced a couple of delays and aired for 7 months due to the pandemic.

What Is The Plot Of ‘Major 2nd’ And What Will Happen In Season 3?

‘Major 2nd’ follows Daigo Shigeno, a son of a legendary baseball player who dreams of following in the footsteps of his father and carving his name in the sports world. However, the path to success is not an easy road. In the first season, Shigeno fell into depression after realizing his skills are not on par with his father. He gave up on his dreams and lived an unmotivated life for a long time until a new classmate helped him get over his disappointment and brought him back to sports. The father of this new classmate is also a famous baseball player and friend of Daigo’s father. The two developed a strong friendship and proved to each other that they can be great players. If the anime series gets renewed for season 3, it will continue chronicling Shigeno’s quest in the sports world.
