'Lupin' Part 3: What We Know So Far

The adventures of Assane Diop continues.

Lupin

'Lupin' Part 2 has finally dropped on Netflix, and in case you have already devoured the five episodes in one sitting, you have probably started craving for more, too. 'Lupin' is a French heist thriller series that took the world by storm when it premiered. Created by George Kay and François Uzan, 'Lupin' follows Assane Diop, a contemporary thief who pulls heists based on the works of Arsène Lupin, a character created by Maurice Leblanc in the early 1900s.

The first part of Lupin explores Assane's background story and establishes his desire to find retribution for his innocent father, who committed suicide after getting framed for theft. In Part 2, Assane managed to get his revenge, but that does not mean that his adventures are about to end. Here is everything we know.

Is 'Lupin' Renewed For Part 3?

Netflix renewed 'Lupin' for part 3 long before the second season even arrived on the platform. The renewal was confirmed by Omar Sy himself back on May 12, 2021.

“We can’t hide anything from you. Lupin part 3 is confirmed!" Omar tweeted, responding to a post from a French journalist who believed that the series had been renewed for part 3.

Well, fans of the series are no longer surprised. 'Lupin' has laid out all the clues of its return. The series ranked number 1 in numerous territories across Europe, including Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Denmark, and Sweden. It also topped the charts in other countries, such as Canada, Brazil, Argentina, and South Africa. We know how Netlfix values viewership, so we don't need to play detectives just to know that more episodes will be coming in the future.

When Will 'Lupin' Part 3 Release?

Netflix officially confirmed that Lupin Part 3 will arrive on October 5th, 2023. The first season of 'Lupin' consists of ten episodes. The first five episodes premiered in January 2021, and the remainder were released on 11 June 2021.

What Is The Plot Of 'Lupin' Part 3?

Warning: 'Lupin' Part 2 spoilers are ahead.

The second part of the French heist action series sees Assane on the run from the authorities again. The good thing is that he has finally achieved his lifelong quest. He proved his father's innocence by providing evidence leading to Pellegrini's arrest. He has finally exacted revenge, but he is still guilty of theft. After saying goodbye to Claire and their son on "Raoul's bridge," Assane went into hiding. The next part will likely see Assane trying to stay low-key to avoid authorities. But we know that he can not stay hidden for too long. Something big will eventually draw him out in the open. Perhaps, there will be new adversaries to face and a new mission to conquer.

Talking about Lupin part 3, creator George Kay shared via Metro, "It won’t be so focused on Babaker [Assane’s late father], even though he will remain an important, emotional crutch in his memory for Assane. It’ll be different stuff, and it won’t be so focused on Pellegrini."

Who Is Cast In 'Lupin' Part 3?

Omar Sy will surely be back as Assane Diop, the charming and talented modern-day thief who pulls a heist inspired by Arsène Lupin. Etan Simon and Ludivine Sagnier will likely join him as his son Raoul and his ex-wife Claire, respectively. We still do not know if Hubert Pellegrini will be back after he gets incarcerated, but it would be anti-climatic if he would come out and wreak havoc on Assane's life again. In that case, 'Lupin' part 3 might be opening a new chapter in Assane's life, which means that we might see new faces in part 3. The rest of the season 2 cast are Hervé Pierre (Hubert Pellegrini), Nicole Garcia (Anne Pellegrini), Clotilde Hesme (Juliette Pellegrini), Fargass Assandé (Babakar), Antoine Gouy (Benjamin Ferel), Shirine Boutella (Sofia Belkacem), and Soufiane Guerrab (Youssef Guedira).

Assane's father, Babakar (Fargass Assandé), appeared in the previous parts through flashbacks. He might appear in the upcoming part, too, in the same manner.
