'Lucifer' Season 6: Everything We Know So Far

'Lucifer' Season 6: Everything We Know So Far

After evading another cancellation, Netflix says season 6 will be the "final FINAL" season for 'Lucifer'. Here are all the latest details.

We are still waiting for Netflix to release the second half of 'Lucifer' season 5, but that doesn't stop us from talking about season 6 as early as now.

The urban fantasy series starring Tom Ellis is undeniably one of the biggest and most popular shows on the streaming giant, and we just can't get enough.

Netflix previously announced that season 5 would be the final chapter for the beloved series, but no one can cancel Lucifer, especially with his army of passionate worshippers. So is season 6 happening?

Here's everything we know.

Will There Be 'Lucifer' Season 6?

Renewal Status: Renewed

Speaking of the devil, 'Lucifer' season 6 is officially greenlit by Netflix. The upcoming season will have a total of 10 episodes and is still currently under production as of this writing.

Originally, there was supposed to be no season 6 anymore. The series was supposed to end in season 5, that is why the 16 episodes were split into two halves. However, we know how insistent Lucifer's fans are when it comes to demanding to see their favorite devil back on screen. Fans started another petition to renew the series once more. The petition demanding Netflix to give Lucifer season 6 secured 150K signatures.

Netflix doesn't always listen to petitions, but Lucifer's minions are too persistent, they could not say no.

On June 23rd, 2020, Netflix finally announced that season six is going to happen but that it would be the β€œfinal FINAL” season.

When Will 'Lucifer' Season 6 Release?

There is no specific release date for season 6 yet, but it is expected to release on Netflix in either late 2021 or 2022. It's worth noting that we are also still waiting for Netflix to announce the release date for Season 5 part B as of this writing as well.

The first part of season 5 was released on August 21, 2020, so part B can drop around the same month this year.

We will continue to monitor Netflix's further announcements.

Will The Story In Season Five Change Now That Lucifer Has Been Renewed For Another Season?

Showrunner Joe Henderson assured us that the renewal wouldn't affect how season 5 part B will end.

He said in an interview:

β€œIt will remain exactly the same as we had planned, and it was really very, very important to us. When the idea for season 6 came up, Ildy (Modrovich, the co-showrunner) and I said to Netflix, β€˜if we do this and we find the right story, the thing we don’t want to do is to undo everything we have done. Once you see Season 5B, you will understand how A and B are actually one big season. How it all relates … The things that happen in the Season 5 premiere fit in completely with the ending.”

Who Are In The Cast Of 'Lucifer' Season 6?

There will be no 'Lucifer' without Tom Ellis, luckily, he is just as excited as his fans to be back for the eponymous role.

β€œUtterly delighted and excited to get back alongside you both in front of and behind the camera,” Ellis tweeted.

The rest of the series regulars are also coming back. They are:

Lauren German as Chloe
Lesley-Ann Brandt as Maze
Rachael Harris as Linda Martin
Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez
Kevin Alejandro as Dan Espinoza
Scarlett Estevez as Trixie Espinoza
D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel

In September 2020, Scott Porter announced that he will be joining the series for seasons 5 and 6.

Aside from Porter, new faces were also announced to join the cast list. This includes Chris Coy (as Alan), Rob Zabrecky as (Horace Goldfinger), Merrin Dungey (as Sonya), Brianna Hildebrand (as Rory), and Mandy June Turpin (as Dr. Jessica LaMotte).
