It had been canceled abruptly and left its avid watchers feeling disappointed, but Netflix didn’t take too long to come to the rescue
Will it have a season 5 of Lucifer on Netflix? What is being said about the famous show?
Lucifer has been a fan favorite for quite some time, and the news that it was being picked up by Netflix received a lot of positive reactions and was overall welcomed by a very joyous audience.
After being abruptly canceled by Fox, the show “Lucifer” was rescued from ‘hell’ by Netflix, and it premiered its fourth season on Friday, May 10. And by no longer having the restrictions of the television network, the new episodes are more sensual than usual. Exactly the way that the devil would want.
According to the official description of this new installment, “while trying to deal with the consequences of Chloe having seen his true face, Lucifer must face another challenge: Eve, the original sinner in person, has returned. Is she led by the temptation that ended up expelling her from Eden so many years ago? Or will she want something else?”
Now, with all this, it is inevitable to wonder if Tom Kapinos’ television adaptation of the DC Comics series will have a fifth season.
Although Netflix has yet to make any official announcement, in an interview conducted recently, Aimee Garcia , who plays Ella Lopez, hinted that the program could have not only a fifth season but also a sixth, while Tom Ellis himself said that his character “Lucifer” still has a lot of history to tell and his story isn’t finished as yet.
The British actor made a statement in an interview before the premiere of the fourth season. He said that he feels that they have not finished telling their story yet. However, he did not want to reveal too many spoilers and left it at that.
“I think we would all love to go back and do a season 5. We’ll have to see what Netflix says,” he added.
In turn, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Maze, told MEA Worldwide that the reaction of more than 4 million productions that got the trailer of the new season-only in its original English version- show a good preview of how well it would go with the continuation of the series. The success of the trailer itself justifies its renewal. In addition, she noted that the fourth installment ends with a great cliffhanger.
“Therefore, I just do not see how we could not have a season five,” said the actress.
Netflix also seems very interested in the success of the show.
“Lucifer” is a fantastic program that has really resonated with audiences in parts of the world, so we felt it was important for our licensing team to try to help the program continue for our fans,” said Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content of the streaming service in an executive session of Netflix with the Reporters.
That is why, after all the efforts that the streaming platform has made, it is unlikely to end the story in the fourth season, although the renewal or cancellation of the series will also depend on the response of the users.
If “Lucifer” wants to keep a similar calendar for a possible fifth installment, it should announce the renewal in a couple of months, although for the moment it is only expected to depend on the reaction of Netflix users in response to the new episodes to know the fate of Lucifer Morningstar and Chloe Decker.
For now, showrunners Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich already have several ideas to continue the series in a potential fifth season.
“We spent some time researching what we think season 5 could be. We even have the first scene, which is one of my favorite things to look forward to,” Modrovich shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Modrovich added that they intend to do something “completely different” and that they are thinking “out of the box” to follow a line that no one can wait for, “so that people do not get bored.” They plan to leave their devoted fans genuinely content with the story as they have a few shocking twists in store!
If Netflix renews “Lucifer” for a fifth season, it is likely that the new episodes will arrive sometime in 2020.
The first three seasons of “Lucifer” are available online on Netflix, with subtitles and also dubbed into Spanish. The fourth installment was enabled on Friday, May 10. You can watch all four seasons online now.
Season four of Lucifer was brought back from the grave, and it wasn’t an easy task. Fans had to make a lot of efforts and run a lot of campaigns to get noticed by streaming platforms and to get help to get their favorite show back. The ratings soared into the sky after the cancellation, and the higher-ups were forced to take notice of the fans desire to bring it back.
Most of the fans have admitted that the decision by Netflix to reduce the episodes and allow complete liberty has brought about a positive result. The quality of the show has increased as we all know Netflix has a reputation for producing top-rated shows.
Admittedly, for avid fans, the wait for season five may seem to be a long one but it is definite they will make it worth our while. We already know what to expect from the previous seasons and no doubt, the seasons to come will leave us impressed too. We can’t wait to see where this story goes. For now, we can just hope for the best!
