'Lucifer' Has Been Renewed By Netflix For A Fifth And Final Season

Season 4 of the hit series Lucifer which aired approximately one month ago is coming back for its fifth and final season. Spoilers Ahead!

Netflix picked up the series 'Lucifer' after Fox did the world a disservice and canceled it after season 3. The series was actually saved due to the efforts of its fans that began a social media campaign with the hashtag #SaveLucifer. Now the show will be returning for its fifth and final season under the streaming giant.

Lucifer

Season 4, which premiered on May 8th, 2019 concluded with Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar leaving Chloe Decker, who is portrayed by Lauren German, behind on Earth as he journies to Hell to take is rightful place as King of the Underworld.  Actor Lesley Ann Brandt who plays Mazikeen on the show had an interview with MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) and was asked about the likelihood of a fifth season.  She had this to say:

I think we might. Our trailer has got four million views, which is crazy and it was humbling. I hope so (that there is season 5) as there is so much story that we could tell, and the way we ended the season, it was on a massive cliffhanger. So, I just don't see how we don't have a season 5.

And now reports from TV Line confirmed what we all previously suspected. The report contained a statement from showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson  which read:

We are so incredibly thankful to Netflix for resurrecting our show last season, and now letting us finish the story of Lucifer on our terms. Most importantly, we want to thank the fans for their incredible passion and support. The best is yet to come!

Henderson also had this to say in an earlier interview with the same site:

The fan support is super-important, and in particular [the first] month is going to be crucial towards whether or not we get a Season 5, because they [at Netflix] are paying attention. So far, the fan support has been amazing — everything you could ask for.

While Modrovich had this to add:

I mean, holy crap. It’s just been great. I don’t know if I could ever handle it when bad reviews came or something, because I feel so spoiled and grateful right now." It was also revealed that the showrunners have known what the opening sequence of season 5 would be, since the beginning of season 4. Modrovich added, "We also have one other, really fun toy to play with, that we know is going to be a big guiding factor in Season 5, so we’re excited about that, too.

The release date for season 5 or the number of episodes that it will contain has not been released by the showrunners but something tells me they will give the fans exactly what they desire.
