'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot: Everything We Know About The Renewal

For those who are wondering whether they will see the 13-year-old Animated Lizzie, or not, they will be happy to know that Hilary Duff confirmed the animated Lizzie will be staying as a 13-year-old in the reboot.

People who were born in '90s have grown up watching Disney movies. Out of many Disney shows and movies, 'Lizzie McGuire' was everyone's favorite, and so was Hilary Duff. From Selena Gomez to Miley Cyrus, they have all loved Hilary Duff for the star she was, and for the star she is. Duff was one of the most loved Disney stars, and today she has given the best surprise to her fans by confirming the reboot of 'Lizzie McGuire' the movie. Ever since this news has surfaced on the internet, it has left the entire space buzzing about it-some want to know the renewal status, some want to know who all will be coming back for the reboot, and some just wants to know what it is going to be about. So, here is everything we possibly could find about the "Lizzie McGuire" Reboot.

Is "Lizzie McGuire" Reboot Really Happening?

Even though it has been way more than a decade since 'Lizzie McGuire' the show and the movie came out, fans would love to see the awkward Lizzie back on the big screen, once again. The original “Lizzie McGuire” series ran for two seasons on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004, and it is because of this series, Hilary Duff made it huge after that. Duff, of course, is aware of the fact that fans would go crazy if she shares this big news with them, herself. Therefore, that is what she did, and announced that the reboot is really happening on Instagram. So, the reboot series is indeed happening, and it is okay if we lose our calm.

When Will "Lizzie McGuire" Reboot Series Come?

The revival is set to come in streaming platform Disney +.  The original creator Terri Minsky is attached to the new series as showrunner. Even though there isn't any official news regarding the release date, we can expect the most awaited season to come sometime in 2021 or late 2022. We might get some more concrete information or update in 2020 about the show since it has just gotten a greenlit.

What Will 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Going To Be About?

Since Lizzie was only 12-year-old when she started the journey, the reboot will now feature a 30-year-old Lizzie, who has, of course, grown up in these many years. The reboot will show Lizzie's life as a young woman, and where has she reached in her life today. “Her life is framed pretty perfectly,” revealed Duff. “She has her dream job [as] an apprentice for an interior designer, who is a pretty big deal,” and she “has a cute little apartment in Brooklyn.” In the premiere, “she’s celebrating her 30th birthday with all of her friends. “Obviously, nothing’s going to go that perfectly the whole series,” Duff teased. “[Lizzie] gets some pretty big news at the end of the first episode.”

Another thing which fans loved about 'Lizzie McGuire' series was the relationship Lizzie and Gordo shared. However, the new series will not be showcasing the romantic side of their relationship. In an interview with Good Morning America, Duff said Lizzie has “a gorgeous fiancé who is a chef at this cool SoHo restaurant." Also, Duff chose to keep it low when asked more about Gordo and Lizzie relationship, to which she remained mum. “I have to play it coy, but there are a lot of surprises in store,” said Duff. “Everyone’s dreams are going to be fulfilled by going on the journey of the show.”

For those who are wondering whether they will see the 13-year-old Animated Lizzie, or not, they will be happy to know that Hilary Duff confirmed that the animated Lizzie will be staying as a 13-year-old only, however, all the things that Adult Lizzie is thinking will be shown through the tiny animated character. “That was really important for me to keep her at 13, because I think that’s what’s so endearing,” said Duff.
