According to recent reports, Daniel Craig will pass the mantle to Captain Marvel actor Lashana Lynch who will be introduced as the new 007.
While Daniel Craig will still portray the role of titular James Bond's role in the still-untitled movie, 'Bond 25' for now, writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge has introduced a major twist to the franchise. The 'Captain Marvel' star was introduced as the current 007's replacement within the secret service and even though a decision is yet to be made regarding who is going to take over from Craig in Bond 26.
An insider, while talking to 'The Mail', said, "There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says 'Come in 007', and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman. It’s a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he’s been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman." The source also added that Bond will be brought out of retirement in Jamaica to solve a 'global crisis'. This news comes after it was revealed that Cristoph Waltz will reprise the role of Blofeld in the movie after he was spotted in Pinewood Studios.
The 62-year-old actor played the head of the shady organization of villains in 2015's Spectre and is back for a second outing, despite previously saying he won't be a part of the next movie. Baz Bamigboye, from The Mail, broke the news on Twitter, saying, "Exclusive: Hello Mr. Waltz... we’ve been expecting you.#ChristophWaltz is back as #Blofeld in @007 # Bond25, shooting scenes at Pinewood Studios. When a visitor spotted him, Waltz insisted, “You haven’t seen me.”
Coming back to the news of Lynch the 31-year-old will be introduced during a very important scene in the movie. The insider said, "There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, 'Come in 007,' and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman. It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman. Bond, of course, is sexually attracted to the new female 007 and tries his usual seduction tricks, but is baffled when they don't work on a brilliant, young black woman who basically rolls her eyes at him and has no interest in jumping into his bed. Well, certainly not at the beginning."
The publication also added that the term 'Bond girl' is strictly prohibited from using anymore. They added, "We were all told that from now on they are to be addressed as 'Bond women'." Lynch has previously starred in the blockbuster Marvel movie 'Captain Marvel' where she played the character of Captain Marvel's close friend and fellow pilot Maria Rambeau.
The secret insider added, "Lashana is absolutely brilliant and Phoebe's script is as sharp and funny as you would expect. This Bond pays tribute to some of the earlier films with a lot of humor. This is a Bond for the modern era who will appeal to a younger generation while sticking true to what we all expect in a Bond film,' the source added. 'There are spectacular chase sequences and fights, and Bond is still Bond but he's having to learn to deal with the world of #MeToo."
The yet-untitled movie has been written by Phoebe Walter Bridge, who said, "There's been a lot of talk about whether or not Bond is relevant now because of who he is and the way he treats women. I think that's b******s. I think he's absolutely relevant now. [The franchise] has just got to grow. It has just got to evolve, and the important thing is that the film treats the women properly. He doesn't have to. He needs to be true to his character."
