'The Me You Can’t See', Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey's upcoming show, aims to shed light on mental health issues.

The Me You Can’t See

The official trailer for Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey's new show about mental health has been released.

The television personality and the  Duke of Sussex created and executive produced the series titled 'The Me You Can’t See', in a bid to understand and shed light on one of the biggest and most misunderstood problems that haunt us today.

We first heard about the project after Winfrey's sit-down interview with Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.

“What words have you heard around mental health?” Prince Harry asked in the trailer.

“Lost it. Can’t keep it together. With that stigma of being labeled ‘the other’ – the telling of the story, being able to say this is what happened to me – is crucial,” answers Winfrey.

The trailer featured snippets of emotional interviews from the world's biggest stars.

Lady Gaga

Renowned Singer-songwriter Lady Gaga and actress Glenn Close were seen talking about their battles in the preview.

"I don't tell this story from my own self-service. I've been through it, and people need help. It's just something I accepted," Lady Gaga said in the trailer.

Aside from Lady Gaga and Close, we also saw world-class athletes, advocates, and more in the preview.

DeMar DeRozan of the San Antonio Spurs, Langston Galloway of the Phoenix Suns, Zak Williams, a mental health advocate and speaker, Virginia "Ginny" Fuchs, an Olympic boxer and Rashad Armstead, a celebrity chef, were also seen opening up about their struggle.

The Me You Can’t See

The conversations go beyond culture, gender, age, and socio-economic status. The show wants to challenge stigmas around mental health. They want to let viewers know that they are not alone, and even some of the biggest and most successful people had to deal with the problem. Most importantly, they want to convince those who struggle with mental health to ask for help.

"To make that decision to receive help is not a sign of weakness," Prince Harry says in the preview. "In today's world, more than ever, it is a sign of strength."

According to Apple, Oprah and Harry teamed up with 14 "accredited and respected experts and organizations from around the world to help shed light on different pathways to treatment".

In a statement, Oprah said, "Now more than ever, there is an immediate need to replace the shame surrounding mental health with wisdom, compassion, and honesty. Our series aims to spark that global conversation."

'The Me You Can’t See' is coming to Apple TV+ on May 21, 2021. You can watch the official trailer below.
