A character who has a severe communication disorder and suffers from social anxiety climbs the popularity ladder unexpectedly at school and charms its way into our hearts as one of the best slice-of-life romantic comedies of the season. Adapted from a Japanese manga series created by Tomohito Oda, Komi Can’t Communicate has over 7 million copies in circulation at the moment, along with a live-action TV drama and an animated series on Netflix. Fans are now eager to know more about the potential of a Komi Can’t Communicate Season 3 happening, and here is everything we know about it so far.
Sadly, Komi Can't Communicate has not been renewed yet and we have no release date announcement from the studios either. But judging by the popularity of this series, it's only a matter of time before they drop a renewal announcement for this anime. As far as rumors go, we can expect a third season to hit the streaming platforms somewhere in late 2024 since there is plenty of source material still left to be animated.
Shoko Komi gained overwhelming popularity among her peers in an elite academy called Itan Private High School. The reason behind her popularity is her impassive beauty and her elegant mannerisms, which charm her classmates. But behind all that facade, Komi has issues when it comes to communicating with others. When an average classmate of hers, Hitohito Tadano, takes a seat next to her, he learns the truth hiding behind her appearance and finds out about Komi’s goal to make at least 100 friends in her school year. A possible renewal of this anime can get us more character development and a progression of the relationship between Komi and Tadano. We might also see Komi coming out of her shell and getting better at communicating with her peers.
In a possible third season, we can see the original voice cast members reprising their roles. Renowned voice actress Aoi Koga plays the titular Komi, Gakuto Kajiwara is the voice of Tadano, Rie Murakawa is Osana Najimi, and Rina Hidaka is Yamai Ren. Kazuki Kawagoe and Ayumu Watanabe directed the previous seasons. OLM studios produce the anime, and Netflix holds the streaming rights.
