Keanu Reeves Reportedly Offered Kraven The Hunter Role In His Own Marvel Film

Kraven is a significant villain in the world of Spider-Man.

The rumor mill has begun spinning a new story. Who wouldn't want Keanu Reeves starring in his own Marvel film? Doesn't that sound super exciting!? The 56-year-old has reportedly been offered the role of Kraven the Hunter in his own solo film. The Illuminerdi reports that it ‘received the word’ that Sony has offered The Matrix star the offer to take on the role of the Spider-Man villain. According to the outlet "While Marvel Studios continues to expand on their wildly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe with the beginning of Phase 4, Sony Pictures is still working hard to build their own story with the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC)." As of now, it seems the offer has been given to the actor but there's no confirmation if he'll take it up.

According to Marvel, Kraven was a "maniacal big game hunter who sought to defeat Spider-Man to prove that he was the greatest hunter in the world. Unlike other hunters, he typically disdained the use of guns or bow and arrows preferring to take down large dangerous animals with his bare hands even though he often made elaborate preparations to weaken a quarry beforehand. He also used a mystical serum to give him similar strength to Spider-Man, but even without the serum, he was a threat to the wall-crawler. However, Kraven's continual underestimation of the superhero's resourcefulness made him a frustrating quarry." It'll be interesting to see Reeves (considered to be one of the nicest guys in Hollywood) take on an anti-hero role.

Recently, the John Wick star came out with his own comic! Brzrkr #1 is a graphic novel series co-written by actor Keanu Reeves and comic book writer Matt Kindt (Folklords, Justice League of America), with artwork by visual artist Ron Garney (Wolverine, Captain America). The main character who is known as Berzerker is a hyperviolent immortal that looks pretty similar to the actor himself. This is the star's first foray into the world of comics. The graphic novel series first launched as a Kickstarter project and raised more than $1.4 million. As we previously reported the complete series will be available as a 3-volume graphic novel softcover set. BRZRKR #1 is expected to release in stores from February 24, 2021.

Reeves shared his thoughts about the upcoming comic series in a video posted to the Boom! Studios YouTube page. “Creating and co-writing BRZRKR is a thrill for me, as I have loved comics since I was a young kid and they have been a significant influence on me artistically throughout my career.” It's pretty interesting to see the actor take on action roles both on-screen and in the world of comics. So it won't be that surprising if he does end being Kraven the Hunter, right? However, according to Comic Book, many fans want to see Karl Urban (who plays Billy Butcher in Amazon's The Boys) take up the role.
