A comic book about an immortal warrior battling throughout the ages titled BRZRKR is being adapted for a movie by Netflix, and Hollywood star Keanu Reeves is considering helming it.

The future of the BRZRKR franchise was discussed during an interview with Collider. During the interview, Reeves admitted he hadn't seen the script by Mattson Tomlin, but he was considering helming the adaptation of his top-selling comic book himself.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the epic tale BRZRKR was first released in 2021 and received positive reviews from both readers and critics. An action-packed warrior who resembles Reeves beats people into pulp at various points in history in this extremely dramatic tale. The comic book was destined for the big screen, and last year Netflix revealed that it will adapt BRZRKR into a live-action film and a two-season animated series. Nobody will be surprised to learn that Reeves will play the lead in the live-action movie.

The movie has recently seen some developments after screenwriter Tomlin revealed last week on Twitter that he had finished his draught of the BRZRKR movie. The animated series is still under wraps. It was unlikely that the comic book team got the chance to read the script given the short amount of time between that announcement and our interview. Reeves admitted that he didn't have the time to read it when we had to inquire anyhow. "I received it either yesterday or two days ago. I have not yet read it," he said. Reeves added that it is still "early days" to start thinking about a director because they are unsure of whether Tomlin's script will receive approval from everyone. Reeves nonetheless disclosed that he has been considering helming the film himself. Reeves claims that there is a "33%" possibility that he will be chosen as the director. Not bad chances.

Reeves might assist the live-action BRZRKR movie in staying true to the comic books if he takes the helm. In that regard, Reeves' sole filmmaking accomplishment was taking the helm of 2013's Man of Tai Chi since he had contributed to its script and felt a strong connection to it. Reeves asserts that if he approves of Tomlin's script, the same might transpire. He said:

"I understand how much labour it is, but the movie I directed, Man of Tai Chi, came about because I participated in the writing process and I didn't want to turn it over. I said, "Oh, okay." I must oversee this. On "BRZRKR," I'm not quite there yet. I have to read the screenplay, but I'm also curious about working with someone else and what they might contribute."

After learning of this extraordinary possibility, all we can do is agree with Garney who said to Reeves during the interview, “Get that percentage up, man. I mean, I think it's all you. You should be doing it. Clint Eastwood does it. I mean, you can do it, I think you, it's your thing.” There’s no release date for the BRZRKR movie or the animated series. Stay tuned for our full interview with Reeves, Kindt, and Garney. Until then, here's Keanu Reeves, director Francis Lawrence, and producer Akiva Goldsman reflecting on the making of the 2005 DC Comics adaptation Constantine for its 15thanniversary.
