Brzrkr #1 is a graphic novel series co-written by actor Keanu Reeves and comic book writer Matt Kindt (Folklords, Justice League of America), with artwork by visual artist Ron Garney (Wolverine, Captain America). The main character is strikingly similar to Reeves himself. According to Kickstarter, the story follows Berzerker who "is half-mortal and half-God, cursed and compelled to violence...even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the world for centuries, Berzerker may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, Berzerker will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it."

BOOM! Studios is behind the series which was founded by Ross Richie in 2005 and has been publishing comic books and graphic novels ever since. According to Comic Book, the upcoming series is about to be the highest selling comic in years. Garney took to Facebook to open up about the novel's success, writing: Brzrkr #1 has surpassed over 600,000 copies— thank you to everyone for the amazing enthusiasm and support for this project on behalf of myself, Keanu, Matt K, Ross, Eric, Bill, Filip, Stephen, Matt G and all of the stellar people at Boom!

Brzrkr #1 has now become the highest-selling comic book of the 2020s, seeming to have surpassed Dark Nights: Death Metal #1. It also wins the record of becoming the highest selling comic since Star Wars #1 in 2015 which sold over one million copies. This is also the highest-selling Boom! Studios comic since Big Trouble in Little China/Escape From New York #1 crossover, which sold a massive 421,000 copies when it debuted in October 2016.

According to Screen Rant Reeves shared his thoughts about the upcoming comic series in a video posted to the Boom! Studios YouTube page. “Creating and co-writing BRZRKR is a thrill for me, as I have loved comics since I was a young kid and they have been a significant influence on me artistically throughout my career,” he shared. He suggested to viewers to contact their local comic book shop via www.comicshoplocator.com and tell them to pull a copy of BRZRKR each month. “That’s all it takes to join us for this exciting 12-issue series about an immortal man cursed with power, forced into violence, and searching for meaning in a life consumed by chaos.” This is the actor's first foray into the world of comics. BRZRKR launched as a Kickstarter project, raising more than $1.4 million.

The complete series will be available as a 3-volume graphic novel softcover set. BRZRKR #1 is expected to release in stores from February 24, 2021.
