A former Disney exec says that we will be seeing Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow again, alongside Margot Robbie.
Disney showed Johnny Depp the door after he was accused of being a wife-beater. After this, we had believed that we would never see Johnny Depp command The Black Pearl throughout the Caribbean ever again.
Hopes to see Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow died even more during the six-week defamation trial where Depp had said that he would not return as Jack Sparrow anymore even if the company was to offer him a “$300 million paycheck.”
But, an insider and former Disney exec told People Magazine that they believe that Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the form of a cameo.
It was already confirmed by Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer that Margot Robbie will be leading the upcoming film. The insider claims that Robbie's character will be the daughter of Jack Sparrow and they will "potentially tease Captain Jack Sparrow with a cameo as a test."
But what about Depp's claim that he would not be returning as Captain Jack Sparrow no matter how much they pay? Well, the insider doesn't believe that this is true.
“I don’t believe that based on his money troubles, especially given Pirates is a billion-dollar global franchise.” The insider says.
There has still been no official confirmation by Disney nor by Depp but, I think most of the world will be open to seeing Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow, even if just in a cameo.
There is also a rumor floating around that Depp has been cast in Beetlejuice 2.
