Netizens have been simping over Joseph Quinn, who plays Eddie Munson on Netflix’s Stranger Things, after the riveting guitar riff of Metallica’s Master of Puppets in Season 4 Vol. 2 of the popular show. Giving fans even more reason for excitement, the actor joined the band at the Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago on Thursday, July 28, 2022, NetflixLife reported.

During the private meet-up, Quinn jammed with the band and they gifted him a custom and signed B.C. Rich guitar just like the one Quinn played on the show. The jam sesh was posted as a video on Netflix’s Twitter account along with pictures that show Quinn absolutely living his life at the moment. Metallica first released the song, Master of Puppets in 1986. For the first time since then, it has reentered the Billboard Hot 100 chart following the Stranger Things fourth season finale, just like Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill which is currently cruising at Number 3 on the same chart.

However, it wasn’t just Quinn who was excited, because it turns out that the feelings were mutual. Metallica has been enjoying Stranger Things since its first season and they were really excited to see what the Duffer Brothers (Matt and Ross Duffer) will be doing with this song. “The way the Duffer brothers have incorporated music into Stranger Things has always been next level,” said the band earlier this month to Netflix Tudum. “But to have such a pivotal scene built around it... we were all stoked to see the final result. And when we did, we were totally blown away.”

Quinn, being ever excited, said, “It was amazing! Opportunities to play Master of Puppets with the most iconic metal band of all time don’t come around very often. A story for the grandkids.” While Quinn may have been using a backing track while the scene was coming on, it was still him playing along to it. As a person who played guitar since his childhood, this was an amazing opportunity to showcase those mad skills in the show, especially with an iconic song like Master of Puppets. However, Quinn didn’t seem to think it too special, because he did say, “I don’t know if anyone would want to hear it.” But the fan reactions to the video posted by the writers of Stranger Things on Twitter say otherwise.

A Twitter user with the handle @finelinella commented, “okay so bring him back so he can do it again.” Another user, @SHINee_Things_ said, “AN ABSOLUTE KING,” while some users were surprised that he is actually playing the guitar. Twitter user @03geebee said, “Is he actually playing? Thought it was a double that played the guitar, is he copying how he plays?” Well, Quinn was indeed the one playing the guitar and it was good enough to bowl away Metallica!
