Jim Carrey Turns 60: Here Are Some Of His Best Films On The Occasion Of His Birthday

Over the course of his career, he has delivered memorable performances in a number of movies.

Jim Carrey is a brilliant actor who is known for his exaggerated comic facial expressions and slapstick comedy. He turned 60 on January 17 and, in his unique style, let the world know that he had turned a year older and a year sexier. 

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "It's ma birthday! Whoohoo! I'm old but I'm gold! I Love you all!!!" He attached a video as well in which he said, with his signature Grinch smile and old-man voice, "I'm 60 and sexy! And tonight, I'm having creamed corn and strained peaches." Announcing his birthday celebration plans in character was the most Carrey thing to do. Over the course of his career, he has delivered memorable performances in a number of movies.



 

Here is a list of some of his best films in honor of his birthday:

1. Bruce Almighty 

In this 2003 comedy film, Carrey plays the titular Bruce Nolan, a television field reporter and a guy who complains about God too often. He is then given God's almighty powers to teach him how difficult it is to run the world.

2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

This romantic sci-fi movie follows an estranged couple, Carrey as Joel Barish and Kate Winslet as Clementine Kruczynski, who have erased each other from their memories. They do not remember their tumultuous past relationship together. 

3. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

This Christmas fantasy comedy-drama film is based on Dr. Seuss's 1957 book of the same name. Carrey plays the ill-tempered Grinch who lives in solitude just outside Whoville. He despises the townsfolk and Christmas. That is, until Cindy Lou from Whoville helps him see the magic in the spirit of the festival and tries to change the cold-hearted Grinch.

4. The Mask

Stanley Ipkiss is a meek bank employee. But he finds himself turned into an eccentric and maniacal green-skinned superhero who has the ability to bend reality, after wearing a wooden mask that was created by Loki, the Norse god of mischief.

5. The Truman Show

In this psychological comedy-drama film, Carrey plays Truman Burbank who works as an insurance salesman who is oblivious of the fact that his entire life is a TV show. Even his family members are actors. Truman soon starts noticing things and uncovers the truth and decides to escape.

6. Yes Man

In this romantic comedy film, Carrey plays Carl, a lonely man with low self-esteem. He decides to participate in a self-help program that challenges him to say yes to everything in life for an entire year.

7. Mr. Popper's Penguins

This comedy film follows Tom Popper Jr who is a divorced real estate entrepreneur. Just like his father, he spends more time at work than with his children. All of this changes when his father sends him penguins as a gift and learning to take care of them better also helps him bond with his children.

8. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Carrey plays the titular pet detective, Ace Ventura, who specializes in finding lost animals. He is tasked with finding the abducted dolphin mascot, Snowflake, of the Miami Dolphins football team.

9. Liar Liar

Liar Liar is a fantasy comedy film starring Carrey as Fletcher Reede, a successful lawyer who has built his career on the basis of lies. But one day he finds himself cursed to speak only the truth for a whole day. He struggles to maintain his career and tries to reconcile with his former wife and son whom he had alienated with his pathological lying.
