Foreign language shows on Netflix have been getting a lot of traction and they owe all of their success to the writing and the plot. However, with the Spanish show Jaguar, fans are unsure whether the show will be able to continue because of its underdog status, What’s on Netflix reports.
The show follows protagonist Isabel Garrido, who is seeking revenge for her family against the Nazis that went into hiding after World War II. While her initial plans go to waste, she is recruited by a team of agents who are also Nazi hunting. Not only are they looking to take down individual Nazis, but they are also working towards eliminating the entire network. It is in this context that Isabel has to postpone her revenge so she can work to better help other victims who were also affected by the Holocaust. Set in the 60s, Madrid becomes a background for the show.
Will There Be Jaguar Season 2?
Netflix has silently canceled Jaguar and the show won’t be returning for a second season. While the show did consistently well in Spain, peaking at number 3 on the Top Ten list, there hasn’t been much rumble in the global lists.
Netflix may never change their mind on the show but fans have been using social media platforms like Twitter to express their admiration for the series. A user named Hanna commented, “Jaguar is a very satisfying series. The series just needs to have more intimate scenes between characters like the young man who was experimenting his sexuality. I was very disappointed that we did not get to see that. I’m looking forward to series 2 soon as possible.”
What Could Have Been The Plot Of Jaguar Season 2?
The show’s first season ended on a cliffhanger with a surprising twist, so if you haven’t seen it, feel free to skip this section. Throughout the season, the team is working to capture Otto. Their plans are foiled but they manage to catch Aribert Heim who takes his time getting under Isabel’s skin.
In the next season, Aribert’s captivity and perceived benevolence may lead to some intelligence coming from his side. The information he may provide could finally bring Otto to justice. Although, considering the direction the first season took, there is potential for the show to take a completely new direction and introduce plot lines that may pay off in the larger run. But with the show canceled, these may never solidify into anything.
