‘iZombie’ Season 6: Everything We Know So Far

It has been years since the fifth season of iZombie was released, but some still wonder if a sixth season is coming. iZombie is a supernatural series on CW that mixes crime-fighting and zombie conspiracies. The show is based on a comic series of the same name created by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred. Season 5 wrapped the story nicely. The zombie outbreak in Seattle got settled, and our favorite characters got the happy ending they deserved. However, there are still possible storylines that the show can explore. So will iZombie return for season 6? Let us find out.

Will There Be iZombie Season 6?

Unfortunately, there will be no season 6 of iZombie. The CW confirmed May 2018 that the fifth season would be the final season of the series. Despite receiving critical acclaim, numerous Teen Choice nominations, and achieving cult status, iZombie did not achieve the same ratings as other mainstream shows like Arrow and The Flash. However, fans can take solace in the fact that the show concluded its story properly. Showrunner Rob Thomas confirmed that “it is wrapped up nicely at the end of the season. We will provide answers to all major, long-term plot questions.” Although we will definitely miss our beloved characters, we should be content with the five seasons that were produced. Extending the show beyond season 5 could have risked overstretching the story and decreasing its value.

What Could’ve Been iZombie Season 6 About?

Although the fifth and final season of iZombie wrapped the story nicely, it also left a door for a possible sequel to the saga. They discovered the cure for the zombie outbreak. The final moments of the series bring us to a flash-forward, with Ravi (now head of the CDC), Peyton (now a DA), and Clive (co-captain of the SFPD with Dale) discussing the final days of the outbreak on a talk show. The virus outbreak is done, and the world thought that (a.k.a. Renegade) died in the final battle. But the truth is that Liv is still “alive.” She and Major have materialized their plans of establishing a zombie island where those who do not want to get cured can live peacefully. If the show returned for a sixth season, we could explore the lives of the zombie island residents and the other characters. It would have been interesting to see how the characters lived after the outbreak.
