Let's dive into everything we know about In The Heights.
In The Heights is set to release in theaters and on HBO Max on June 11, 2021.
The musical was first scheduled to be released on June 26th, 2020. However, instead of getting dumped to VOD like many other films during the pandemic, the director opted to premiere it in theaters.
Director John M. Chu tweeted,
After long conversations & sleepless nights of uncertainty, we have decided the best time to release #InTheHeightsMovie is next summer when people will feel the MOST comfortable celebrating in a movie theater TOGETHER. I know it’s much later than we wanted but it didn’t take 10 years to get made only to be left in half empty theaters w/out the crowd it deserves!! So thank you 4 ur patience & faith...and when we get through this time & the movie comes out we are throwing a HUGE EFFING PARTY LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE.

The story follows Usnavi over the course of three days in his dilemma, all the while falling for a girl named Vanessa, who works in a nearby beauty salon.

Lights up on Washington Heights... The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.
