It is a romantic comedy that stars Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron and it tells the story of old friends who find love among each other.

'The Long Shot' is a movie that seeks to combine political satire with a raunchy romantic comedy. It is a fairly known fact that the two key ingredients for a successful romcom is good writing and perfect casting. Theron and Rogen make a sparkling duo where Theron plays the role of a sleek politician and Rogen plays the role of her long lost friend. The movie is directed by Jonathan Levine and written by Dan Sterling and Liz Hannah. The plot of the movie revolves around a journalist, played by Seth Rogen who starts to spend his time along with his former babysitter, who is now the United States Secretary of State. Along with Theron and Rogen, the movie stars  O'Shea Jackson Jr., Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Bob Odenkirk, and Alexander Skarsgård. 



 

The official synopsis of the movie reads, "When Fred Flarsky reunites with his first crush, one of the most influential women in the world, Charlotte Field, he charms her. As she prepares to make a run for the Presidency, Charlotte hires Fred as her speechwriter and sparks fly." The production of the movie started in February 2017, which was then titled as 'Flarsky'. In October 2017, O'Shea Jackson Jr. was cast and in November  2017, June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel, Andy Serkis, Alexander Skarsgard, and Randall Park joined the cast as the filming of the movie started in Montreal.

A few scenes of the movie were filmed in Plaza de la Trinidad in Cartagena, Colombia and in January 2019, it was revealed that the movie has been finally renamed as 'The Long Shot'. The movie's worldwide premiere happened at South by Southwest on March 9, 2019. The movie was originally slated to be released on February 8, 2019, and it received highly positive test screenings. The release of the movie was pushed back to June 7, 2019, but it was then again finally released on May 3, 2019.

The box office collection of the movie has been pretty decent as it grossed $10.0 million in the United States and Canada and $3.3 million in other regions. The total collection of the movie worldwide came up to $13.3 million. 'The Long Shot' was released along with other movies such as 'The Intruder' and 'Uglydolls'. It was predicted by the box office experts that the movie will earn somewhere around $9–16 million from 3,230 theaters in its opening weekend. In its opening day, the movie grossed $3.6 million. Rotten Tomatoes has rated the movie with 83 percent that is based out of 191 reviews and holds an average rating of 7/10.

Metacritic scored the movie 68 out of 100, based on 40 reviews by the critics and indicated that it is generally favored by the critics. Cinemascore gave the film an average grade of 'B', on a scale of 'A+ to an F', and PostTrak gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars and a 57% of a definite recommendation.
