House Of David Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

After the success of The Chosen, which is now in its fifth season, another faith-based show, House of David, has captured the attention of viewers on Prime Video. But can we expect more? Here’s everything we know.

Has House Of David Been Renewed For Season 2?

Good news! House of David has been renewed for a second season on Prime Video, and it might arrive sooner than you expect.

After the renewal was officially announced in mid-March, just before episode 6 was released on the streaming platform, showrunner Jon Erwin said that filming for the next episodes had already started.

He and co-writer Jon Gunn said: “We are humbled by the extraordinary reaction this show has earned from the faith audience worldwide.

“Thanks to them and our partners at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, Wonder Project will bring more of the Bible and this epic saga to a global audience. Congratulations to our incredible cast and crew.”

Erwin posted a short video on Instagram to celebrate the news.

He announced that filming for season 2 has already begun, and a big new set is being built to bring the next part of the story to life.

It seems there could be many more seasons ahead, based on recent comments from creator and co-writer Jon Erwin.

In a recent interview with Variety, Erwin said that “six seasons would be amazing.”

Asked whether he has each season of House of David planned, Erwin responded: “I’ve plotted out the entire series. This is something that I’ve been dreaming of for decades. I very clearly know where I want this series to end. David’s life is really in three chapters.”

He continued: “You have the origin story of David, the ascent and rise of this character. You have this middle portion, which is like Robin Hood, as this character is being chased around by King Saul. And then you have the great reign of King David, which is full of accomplishments and tragedy and everything in between. You put all three of those together and it really is an odyssey.”

He added: “This whole story is an epic life lived, and not a perfect one. His accomplishments are as high as his failures are low, but he always found a way of finding his way back to God and finding his way back to the heart of the story. I would love nothing more to be able to tell the whole story of David. That would be incredible.”

When Will House Of David Season 2 Be Released?

Since production is progressing quickly, we expect the next season of House of David to come out within the next year, possibly in spring 2026. Right now, that’s just a guess.

We will update this page with more information about the House of David release date as it becomes available.

What Is The Plot Of House of David Season 2?

Now that Goliath is defeated, House of David season 2 will continue with the next part of the Biblical story, showing David dealing with palace politics and family conflicts as he works his way to the throne.

In an Instagram video, co-writer Erwin teased the plot by saying: “If you want to begin to speculate now, [to] talk about what you think the second season is going to be… Many of you are getting it really, really right.”

In a recent interview with Variety, Erwin discussed the battle at the end of season 1 and how it sets the stage for season 2. “The question was always where to put that Goliath moment. When we began to design the first season, I really got a lot of help from a lot of great friends like The Chosen’s Dallas Jenkins and Ryan Swanson, his lead writer, who is a structural genius.”

He continued: “It became clear that season 1 should be about this young boy chosen to be king in a nation that already had one and this collision course to fight this giant Goliath at the end of the season. Also, this absolute cliffhanger of: What happens now?

“David has killed the giant, but he has also triggered an absolute tidal wave from both sides of which he is in the middle of. It just seemed like a great place to leave the story and the character, and then come back with season 2 and tell the rest of the story of this great battle.”
