That’s right, you have even more reason to be afraid of the wide ocean now that a simulation has shown you what would happen if a sperm whale were to swallow you whole.
Aside from being afraid of legendary creatures like Cthulhu, most people are usually afraid of encountering sharks when they are near the ocean.
Which makes sense—who wouldn’t want to be haphazardly dragged down to the bottom and torn to pieces, or at the very least, have some of them bitten off?
A simulation of what happens to your body after you are eaten by a sperm whale, however, makes a strong argument to be added to your list of irrational concerns.
Okay, so encountering a sperm whale – a species native to all deep oceans, from the equator to the edge of the pack ice in the Arctic and Antarctica – is pretty unlikely while out swimming, it’s good to be prepared… right?
If you are unlucky enough to be swimming and get swallowed by the ocean behemoth, you would likely face a pretty unfortunate end.
The Zackdfilms YouTube channel posted a video showcasing the simulation, in which the creator promises to avoid the ocean for the foreseeable future. Look at this below:
The narrator says: “If you were swallowed by a sperm whale you would be squeezed down its massive throat. You’d continue down its esophagus and into a series of stomach chambers that are filled with digestive acids,”
This is undoubtedly as horrible as it sounds, and the simulation’s dummy’s constant yelling expression serves to highlight this. How charming.
The narrator continued: “These acids would immediately start breaking down your body but even if you managed to avoid the acid, the lack of air inside the whale would quickly cause you to suffocate.”
Finally, as some online users pointed out, unless the whale had also ingested some functional lights, all of this would be taking place in the dark.
“Bro I swear this channel gives me unlocking phobias,” one person on social media coimmented.
“What makes it scarier is that theres no light and the smell, whenever you try to ask for help no one would hear you and you will just rot there,” another added.
“This is ACTUALLY traumatizing, not just a slightly weird animation,” commented another.
Remarkably, a man survived a horrible incident remarkably identical to mine.
In 2021, while out diving, Massachusetts lobster diver Michael Packard was sucked up into the mouth of a humpback whale.
Luckily, he was spit out seconds later and avoided the misery shown in the animation.
