‘Homeland’ Season 9: Everyhing We Know So Far

‘Homeland’ is a long-running series with 96 episodes spanning eight seasons to date. The show follows a CIA operations officer who has bipolar disorder, Carrie Mathison. Carrie pursued a celebrated US Marine suspecting him of working with terrorists. The CIA Division Chief Saul Berenson guided Carrie as she began her mission. The series is an adaptation of the Israeli TV series called “Prisoners of War,” directed by Gideon Raff. It was on October 2, 2011, when the espionage show first aired. ‘Homeland‘ becomes famous for its astonishing portrayal, cast presentation, and responsible depiction of the Global War on Terrorism. The widely successful show has received several accolades, including Emmy awards, Peabody awards, Golden Globe awards, and many more. In the history of Showtime, the series holds the record of the highest-rated and most-watched show.

Damian Lewis (Nick Brody) revealed in 2012 that US ex-President Barack Obama said that he loves the show ‘Homeland.’  It’s sad to know that despite all the successful seasons, the channel Showtime has canceled it after ages. You might be confused as to why the show got canceled or if there is any possibility that ‘Homeland‘ might come back for a season 9. Here is what we know so far.

‘Homeland’ Season 9, Release Date: Is it Renewed or Cancelled?

On February 9, 2020, the first episode of ‘Homeland’s Season 8 aired. The season ended on April 26, 2020, after its 12 Episodes. All of the seasons are available to be watched online on Showtime. However, On August 2, 2019, Showtime said that the eighth season was it is last. To clear things up, It was not a last-minute decision. Gansa originally planned the series to run for eight seasons. In September 2016, Gansa told Deadline that he and his team would be “writing an ending to the series in Season 8.”

Homeland is a story of a master and an apprentice. Throughout the eight seasons, we see Saul and Carrie get entangled in a deadly espionage mission. 

Gansa also revealed that the Homeland series is the most memorable, joyful, and rewarding experience of his career. Although he is sad that the series has to end, he understands that it’s now time.

‘Homeland’ has been the most joyful and rewarding experience of my career,” Gansa said in a statement.

“Not many have been as lucky as me — partnered with the miraculous Claire Danes, supported to the ends of the earth by Fox and Showtime, and working in the company of some of the most gifted writers, actors, and filmmakers in the business. I am sad to see the journey coming to an end, but it is time.”

The cast of the series also paid tribute to the show.

Mandy Patinkin, the actor who plays the lead role of Saul Berenson posted a sentimental video on Facebook titled, “Homeland Memories.”

Maury Sterling, who played Max in the show, also posted a goodbye message on Instagram.

It’s always tough to bid farewell to a favorite show. However, we can take comfort in the fact that the producers ensured the show had a proper ending. They managed to wrap up the plot neatly without forcing it. So, it’s official – ‘Homeland’ will not be returning for a ninth season.
