Hogwarts Legacy: Everything We Know So Far

The open-world action RPG Hogwarts Legacy will not release this year. Instead, the new Harry Potter game has been pushed to 2022. Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software and Portkey Games (the Harry Potter video game publishing label owned by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) announced that they need more time to deliver the “best possible experience” to players.

When Will 'Hogwarts Legacy ' Release? 

The game's announcement took place in September 2020 just four months ago, reports PC Gamer. It was expected to be out sometime this year but has been pushed to 2022. No official date has been confirmed yet.

“We would like to thank fans from around the world for the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label,” Hogwarts Legacy makers said in a statement on Twitter. “Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs. Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022.”

'Hogwarts Legacy ' Plot: What Is It All About?

Avalanche hasn't revealed too much about the game yet, except that it's an “immersive, open-world action-RPG”. Set in the world of Harry Potter during the late 1800s (long before Harry, Hermione, Ron, or their parents enroll at the school), the website states that players would step into the shoes of “a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the Wizarding World apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic."

"Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic. Discover the feeling of living at Hogwarts as you make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.” In the trailer, custom characters can be seen at Hogwarts attending lessons, playing quidditch, potion brewing, the Sorting Hat ceremony, encountering magical beasts, and more!

According to Android Authority, Hogwarts Legacy seems to be a single-player role-playing game as of now. You will take on the role of a student admitted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry but unlike previous games, your character is admitted late (around 5th year). Also, the game will release on the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S next-gen consoles, as well as PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
