The latest Spanish period drama, 'High Seas' on Netflix is reportedly getting a second season renewal, so its demand is pretty evident. Netflix has featured some of the best Spanish movies in recent years, that includes dramas like 'Grand Hotel' and 'Velvet'. Netflix's first Original attempt into the genre was with 'Cable Girls' which is now getting its fourth season. Let's dig deeper to know more about 'High Seas'.
The show 'High Seas' is a Spanish mystery thriller with the magnificence of The Titanic and also about a sinister murder that is gone wrong. The story revolves around two sisters dwelling in the lap of glory, and the show also shows their voyage as they unfurl disturbing truths and family secrets after a slew of mysterious deaths occur on the luxury ship, which is traveling from Spain to Brazil in the 1940s.

According to Marca, which is a massive news organization the series is returning for season 2. It said, “[High Seas] is already filming its second season, as confirmed on Wednesday by a spokesman for the company.”
Another source that confirmed about the second installment is one of the actresses who spoke about where the second season could go. She said, “If in the first one they were opening more plots and more mysteries, in the second one it is another turn more, it is not more of the same”. However, no one has heard anything from Netflix as an official statement or announcement, but we can count on the two former sources who basically confirmed the renewal of the second season.
No official date is confirmed yet, but we can hope for the second season to release in 2020. If the show is going to stick to an annual schedule, then we can expect 'High Seas' season 2 to be on Netflix in May 2020.
The first season has Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira, who are directing the project which is based on a script from Campos and Neira, along with Daniel Martin Serrano, Curro Novallas and José Antonio Valverde. The series is directed by Carlos Sedes who will also be Executive Producer with Teresa Fernández Valdés and Campos. They are coming together once again after their shows like Las chicas del cable and Fariña were successful.
Campos, the executive producer, said, "We are very happy to collaborate again with Netflix in what is already our third project together. 'High Seas' allows us to return to the genre of mystery in a wonderful environment. We have the best team headed by the director Carlos Sedes and Jacobo Martínez as cinematographer, both of them responsible for some of our greatest successes: Gran Hotel, Velvet or Las chicas del cable".
