The first season started streaming on Netflix on October 2 and was among the top ten most viewed shows after its debut. The next season is set to premiere on December 22. A year has gone by since the season one finale, lets take a look at where things stand now before the new season begins.
The show kicked off as Emily Cooper moves from America to Paris after a job opportunity that requires her to bring an American point of view to a French marketing firm, Savior. This put her at a crossroads of climbing the career ladder or maintaining a stable relationship with her boyfriend. But while she tries to do both, she also has to go through the culture shock of the French way of living.
She decides to document her new life on social media and also becomes a famous influencer. At work, she is always butting heads with her boss and her job is at stake when she jeopardizes a client at Savior. Her lack of language skills also lands her in trouble from time to time until she is rescued by Camille (Camille Razat), who goes on to become her new friend in the new city. Her work life is chaotic as she manages to botch things up before finding a creative solution to all the problems and turning them into success.
Emily also finds herself being attracted to her neighbor Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). She even breaks up with her American boyfriend when things get complicated but after she finds out Gabriel is actually Camille's boyfriend she stops herself from crossing the line. But things take a turn when she finds out he's leaving Paris. After finding out he has broken up with Camille, she confesses her feelings to him. They spend the night together and all seems to have ended well when Gabriel surprises her by saying he's staying back in Paris but she then gets a text from Camille asking to speak to her.
At the end of season one, as it stands, Emily is standing at the intersection of a new crossroad. She has to now make a choice between her love life with Gabriel or her friendship with Camille, whom she has already betrayed by sleeping with Gabriel.
The second season will pick up where the first season ended. Emily now has to navigate a new set of challenges. We can also expect a lot more misadventures and funny moments in the second season.
